i just have a hard time seeing colbert fitting into the role of "late night talk show host". he seems to like doing characters, which he excelled at from his days at second city through the daily show and his own show...i thought the vid was ok. he likes that dry humor a lot. but he's best when he's mocking and you can only do so much of that on network latenight in dave's timeslot.

hell be fine. he is very intelligent and a great interviewer. thats all you need. the production staff will take care of everything else.

Legend has it that Kendrick wrote the song he performed there the day of the show and it was pretty fucking great. Cant wait to see what he does this time.

Jon Batiste isn't a guest, he's the bandleader.

I have always believed Colbert to be a quick-wit and a unique talent, but his style will never work with this format. He's too sarcastic and cynical for most of America to care.

I find Colbert and Stewart lame. Plenty of comedic material with Obama and Hillary, too politically correct to use it.

Colbert is just awful. He was a terrible choice to replace Letterman. Too bad they didnt ask Dave what he thought.

Colbert is far from awful, just the show so far isn't what I would have hoped for ... though the Oreo/Trump thing was not as bad as the first hunk.

We'll see how the interview part goes next.

Late Night TV would be fucking fantastic if it was Conan on NBC and Craig on CBS ... in a much smarter paralell universe that's what's on right now. Maybe Stephen Fry at after Craig in a show built like Tomorrow used to be with Tom Snyder.
