Who would it affect the most?

good dolphin would try his best to act like it never happened, so therefore it doesn't bother him. (Who You Crappin?)

JORR would argue that somehow, someway, it shouldn't count. When that doesn't take hold, he'll then move on to a "it's the flukiest World Series champion in all of baseball history" argument.

Regular Reader will continue to seethe at the mere mention of anything Cub related, though he just might pack it in knowing the Cub coverage will become unbearable.

SomeGuy and Pitt Mike will be like the Soldiers who were neve told the War was over. They'll keep fighting ghosts of Cubdom past. The real question is, which one will be Don Quixote and which will be Sancho Panza?

Frank will probably light himself on fire.

And a sleeper candidate to worry about is Sini. This guy has so much anti-Cub venom flowing through his veins that he could kill a Ryno just by looking at him. Who knows how he'll react?

You know the one in 1908 doesn't count. Merkle's Boner wasn't really a boner at all. It was customary in baseball to do exactly what he did. Johnny Evers appealed to the umpire and he enforced a rule that was never enforced. Cubs shouldn't even have been there. That one was definitely fluky.

I can't really speak to the flukiness of the multiple hypothetical championships the Cubs are going to win over the next ten years.

Pre-Viagra era.

When (once again....1907, 1908) the Cubs win the World Series, not if.

I'll treat it the same way Yankees fans treated the Red Sox temporary success. It is a temporary and mild annoyance which will make their fall all the more entertaining.

Really though, a World Series will not change much. The media could not be less skeptical than they currently are. The fans could not be less demanding than they currently are. The coverage could not be greater than it currently is.

2003 was a watershed year for the organization. The fans collectively stopped eating the lotus for a few years. However, they always had the addiction and returned to it at the first offering.

Consistency.

A trait to be admired.

I may start crying knowing that my Cubs fan friends finally know how awesome I and other White Sox fans felt in 2005.

It was like Christmas morning as a parent when you see your favorite kids like Frank and Terry's Peeps as happy as happy can be. It was more fun than getting your own gifts. I would like to see jimmypasta feel the same way. The only thing that would make it better would be if THE INQUISITOR, Juiced, and IMU were in jail for it and didn't get to watch.

hipsters cannot enjoy something once it becomes popular

within the next year or so we will start to get the division of cub fandom into the long time fans and the pink hat wearing fans. It happens every time.

Perseverance...being an underdog has increased interest perhaps. But when they win the World Series, it will be the most celebrated sporting event the world has ever seen!!!

"Don't crap me now."

You'll be sporting Cub gear the very next day.

since you're a White Sox fan, do I take it to mean that the White Sox are the Yankees and the Cubs are the Red Sox? If so, I missed the double digit championships the Sox have won. But I assume every good Sox fan will view it the same way I viewed the Sox championship...good for them, now let's get our team back in gear.

when tickets become scarce or prohibitively expensive, the old fans complain about the new ones

Tickets were still available this past off season as the bandwagon was not on full tilt. Next season will be different

There will be so many pregnancies on that day that demographers will need to name a generation for it

that generation will unfortunately not know its fathers

Steve, you are going to get mocked for this post so I want you to know beforehand that you are loved.

Just for your knowledge, drinky made that statement at the Blackhawks parade.

It would be the biggest event in Chicago sports history surpassing the current leader -85 Bears.
The 85 Bears would be the only one that should even be in the conversation but toss in the 2015 vs 1985 media and it's not even close.

Current Championship rankings last 40 years
85 Bears
1st Bulls
3rd Blackhawks
4th Bulls
1st Blackhawks
6th Bulls
2005 White Sox
2nd, 3rd, 5th Bulls
2nd Blackhawks

Welcome back from Cicero
