Per Sources, Kenny wants him out.

Kenny was also the guy who brought him in.

Kenny should be out.

I hate the rationalizations that people make in sports. No one should ever say anything like "He's not the biggest problem, so concentrate on those". Someone is either a problem or they aren't. Robin is.

When the White Sox didn't hire a new manager in the offseason they signaled that they really weren't interested in going for it. No reason to care about the Sox while he stays.

Just saw a tweet of Coach Dave Lato at DePaul. Reminds me of the Sox. #FAMILY #REHIRES

I think he can spell "Abreu" and "Eaton" as well as most people.
If Thome filled out the lineup cards, half the guys names would be written twice.

I think Robin hurts his legacy with this coaching stint. He has in my mind, at least.

No manager ever won or lost a championship. It's just not that important. Maddon is the same guy now as when he won 60 games in Tampa in 2006. If you have good players, you're a good manager.

Really? I don't think the Sox win in 2005 without Ozzie. As far as managers not losing, see Grady Little with the BoSox and Dusty with the Cubs for their lack of success in the playoffs. I do feel that baseball managers get too much blame and get too much credit, but they can have an effect on things.

He has to be fired. The team is bad. That's how I felt about Ventura this year too. But that's just the way it's done. Unlike BRick, I don't believe Ventura is the problem with the Sox or even a problem with the Sox. If they play better baseball he'll be a better manager. Same thing with Williams. Every modern fan considers Ned Yost brain dead, and yet his team is leading its division by twelve games. A baseball manager is pretty incidental.

If you are only making moves that are proven to win or lose a championship then you are making like three moves a year at most.

Do you think Adam Eaton is winning or losing a championship?

There's no way of knowing. I'm not saying a manager can't make a difference. I'm saying you can't really say when and why they will. In 2012 Ventura did far better with the same team Ozzie quit on in 2011. I sure don't think Ozzie's Sunday lineups and and bunting helped the Sox win anything.

I know he can play center on a last place team.

Like most good teams, they have some of both.

It's only Williams' second year and the game has already seemed to pass him by.

There have been bigger dopes than Williams who have won World Series. Terry Bevington has a .509 winning percentage.

No denying that, but Williams' bullpen usage and defense of his usage puts him in a very special category.

Williams lost the team because of the way he handled Bryce Harper. The team doesn't like him and they don't play hard for him. The Sox players love Robin and play hard for him which is obviously most important. Hahn has to do a better job of putting good players on the field. It's on him.

The Sox players love Robin because when they make stupid mistakes on defense or on the bases, he doesn't hold them accountable which is why the Sox have been pretty much the worst in the league in those categories since he took over.

I agree that a manager in baseball has much less impact than other sports; however, I think they do have an impact that reaches beyond game decisions. With a long 162-game schedule, there has to be value in having leadership that keeps guys motivated, comfortable, and fresh. They make a lot of money, yes, but pretty much every study ever done shows that money doesn't really motivate most people. I'm not gonna go all Scorehead and start quoting from the corporate handbook, but I think there are some similarities between all types of leadership positions.

I agree with that, but it's more a matter of a particular guy fitting a particular team at a particular time rather than one guy being "good" and another guy being "bad".

How do you hold players accountable? By grandstanding like Bobby Cox and pulling a guy mid-inning? If a guy has at least four Hall of Famers at all times over fifteen years and wins just one championship, I'd call that guy a horseshit manager. Instead he's in the Hall of Fame.

Yes, and it's pretty much impossible to measure. As fans, I don't think we can really tell, but the execs should have some sort of feel for it.

Well, Bruuuuuuuuuce Levine says Robin wants to come back so that problem is solved.
And he also says Jerry is pissed and wants to know WTF happened and what 'we' are gonna do about it, so that's taken care of.
Thanks for the sports journalism Bruce.
Wait 'til next year!

If GM wanted Thompson playing he would be. Don't be naive. Maddon also takes input from upstairs.

Another example of Sox fans being obsessed with all things Cubs. No Cub fan posted in your Ventura thread until you wrote this stupid comment.

Beckham, Flowers, Alexei, Sanchez, LaRoche are your everyday players. They cannot hit. There isn't a manager in the history of the game that could make those ass-wipes better hitters. Robin is a bad manager, but this team would still be under .500 with a "better" manager.

while I'd love to see the turds like LaRoche benched, there isn't a manager in the game that would do that. The guys getting paid play. Period.
