Unless he can say he was found "not guilty" in a court of law. That would help his reputation.

What you are basically saying is that whether or not he is a rapist or not, he is expecting the trial to make him look horrible, and he should avoid that by paying off someone. That is the best case way to spin it. The worst is that he is in fact a rapist.

No, being found not guilty would not make much of a difference. The evidence, half of which would be slanted in favor of the prosecution, would already be out there and the public would've already spent significant time disecting it.

I agree with the second sentence, but I wouldn't limit that to Kane. I would say the same thing about just about person accused of rape. Its an ugly trial, guilty or not, your whole sexual life will be dissected for the public.

You don't need to have a civil suit on file to settle a civil claim. I settle civil claims all the time without filing suit. If we can't work out a settlement, then we file the suit.

Even after you agree to a settlement, you don't need to then file it with the civil court. A simple release stating that the complaining party agrees to not file suit in consideration for accepting the settlement is sufficient.


And THAT answers my question!

It'd be worse for the victim imo.

I made that statement under the assumption he is not guilty. If he is guilty, I don't see why she'd accept monetary settlement so quickly. I really don't have much of an opinion here, I'm not sure what happened based on the info available. The one thing I do think is Kane is a dirt bag and my daughter is going to have to find a new favorite player and jersey.

Pretty interesting. Two different Buffalo outlets reporting two different things. One says settlement talks ongoing. The other is emphatically saying no talks have even started.

Regarding whether or not "talks" have taken place, I would have to think there has been communication and they just dont want to affirm it at this point. Not saying who called who and what offers have been made, but I just cant believe they havent talked.

I would assume Lifetime Channel is already casting for the made for TV Movie.

I think he raped her. But I also think he was black out drunk and has no recollection of the rape and probably most of the evening. So he doesn't know that he raped her. Maybe he finally came clean to his lawyer and said "I don't remember".
