That's sillier sounding than Lovie's four four-quarter seasons.

Not trying to be a windsock. I'd just like to know one reasonable explanation for putting Strop back in there to get lit up....AGAIN. We know you're a good manager, Joe. Stop trying to one up yourself.

Better to try and fail now than roll the bones without knowing in a game that really matters ... maybe ... Joe does what he does ... we knew or were made aware this is the kind of thing he did before he even walked into Wrigley the first time.

They didnt win all those games by luck.....and hadnt been swept this year.

Content with the series, constant concern of the pen...

I actually had no idea Maddon's M.O. is to continue to pitch a reliever against a team that has beaten said reliever's ass all year. He might want to rethink that.

I know in the long run this game probably means nothing but this kind of loss pisses me off.

Joe said he was managing all these remaining games like playoff games. Just not this one, I guess. You don't send Strop out there in the 8th because you already have a big enough sample size. Pissing away games for the hell of it is rage inducing.

Moving on now. At least I have Win Day to look forward to tomorrow.

i hope so matt but none of those match-ups seem promising.

i wonder if cubs offense will reach 40 strikeouts this series.

I'm actually being hopeful for this series. Reality could result in a bloodbath.

Get a fucking hold of yourself people.

Today's loss sucked but 2 out of 3 vs the best team in baseball in their stadium without Jake pitching..........very good series.

Denorfia in for Schwarber for defensive purposes, guess which spot rolls around in the ninth?

Also going down with Bryant holding a bat in the dugout?

Not good moves by Joe.

Wtf was Schwarber going to do? Go for his 5th k of the game?

What kind of sombrero is that?

"Platinum sombrero" is 5. "Horn" is 6.

Ryan Howard has 24 career golden sombreros.

Today sucks.

But every Cub fan here would have been thrilled with winning 2 out of 3 from them before the series started.

I understand Maddon giving guys opportunities and making moves to keep guys rested and others sharp. If Bryant plays today rather than the rusty Kyle Schwarber (who took the collar and had issues putting the bat on the ball) maybe they score a run or two more. But they want to keep Kris healthy and get him some rest, while getting Schwarber's timing back. No AAA to send him down to, for a rehab assignment. They used some pitchers they might not have used if this game was a clincher of some sort. But it wasn't and with a big lead in the wildcard, Maddon can afford to hold auditions for spots in the bullpen on the playoff roster. But it sure did suck to lose that game to the Cardinals

All of Lovie's seasons were broken down into four quarters, not just four of them

You put him in there now because you might be facing the same situation in the playoffs and need to see if he can pitch in SL with the game on the line.

I rather him fail in a semi meaningless game then in the playoffs.

I have more of a problem with putting Richard in there than Strop. Richard has no business pitching in that situation with the slop he throws.
