Samardzija is mentally drained. He was pitching decently leading up to the deadline, hoping he would get traded to a contender. He was probably disappointed he had to finish the last two months playing for such a clown organization.

I feel he would perform better for the Cubs next season. Believe me, I'm not signing him for $15M a season. But next year if he wants to sign for 1 year $13M....sure. Or 2 years $24M...okay.

Imu- that's weak, Defalco been making that excuse as well. His ERA is almost always good in April, May...by August n September its right where it should be. He has more incentive than anyone to perform well..its his contract year..he's just not good.

He belongs in the N.L. n he ain't even that good in the N.L. he's a 4th starter maybe 5th ..you never want this bum pitching meaningful games.

I think it's the average of the highest 125 contracts. It's expected to be around $16 million this season.

He'd be my 4-5th starter but he'd need to take 4-5th starter money and a further reduction because he has no leverage.

the value is that it is a one year contract. That is easy to float and makes him very tradeable.

Nobody of any value as a starting pitcher is going to be signing a one year deal so just consider it a tax on the flexibility it provides. I also think they can trade him immediately if he signs.

The fact is, there should be no room for Shark in the rotation last year. Johnson has earned a long look next year.
