He is a guy many think can be the best SS of them all in a couple years. Figuring out where he will play/who to trade, will become crucial decisions for Hoyer and Epstein. Nice problem to have in some ways, but make the wrong decisions and it will haunt them.

Do you wish he was polish so you could eat a polish sausage?

I wish his name was spelled "Torehis" so that way when he hits his next HR we can say about the pitcher "Gleyber tore his pitch up!"

Saw this kid play this summer in south bend. He made a couple spectacular plays at SS. You could just tell he was the best player on the field for either team.

Torres, Moreno and Jimenaz, all part of the Cubs "Outsmarting" the other teams by trading for cap space in the international draft.

Guy would make a killing if he opened up a place in Boystown simply named Gleybar

The Cubs have a team that should win about 95 games. It is September.

This needed its own thread?

 I was just about to post something similar. This thread is the encapsulation of Cubbie Nation. Your team is playing better than anyone in baseball. You have three shortstops on the big league roster. But by all means, lets talk about some guy in the low minors.

gotta love it

Signed for $1.7 million out of Venezuela as part of the Cubs' $8.2 million international signing spree in 2013, Torres was even better than advertised in his first year as a pro. He had no trouble making his U.S. debut at age 17 and easily handled a jump to the short-season Northwest League in August.

An extremely advanced hitter for his age, Torres has a quick, short right-handed stroke and handles the bat well. He uses the entire field and has good knowledge of the strike zone. He's not physically imposing but has some strength that could produce close to average power once he learns to turn on pitches more often.

Because he has just average speed and quickness, Torres may wind up at second base in the long run. But he looked better at shortstop than expected and his instincts may allow him to stay there. His strong arm will allow him to play anywhere in the infield.

Please call them Cubbie fans and not Cub fans. I don't give two shits about some 18yr old kid in the low minors right now. Arietta had another win and the Cubs are steam rolling over teams. Ruth hit 2 bombs and Bryant has 90 RBI's!

I have not been this excited about a Cubs team since 89. 2003 I didn't have much faith until they beat ATL.

My work on this one is done.....even though this is a kid you will be hearing about SOONER than most 18 year olds, still....

Hearing about him in a trade for a starter ok. But the days of salivating over prospects in the minors should be over. We have bigger things to salivate about. Like the play of the major league team headed to the playoffs. We don't have to act like the A's anymore. We are the fucking CUBS!

Praise be to Theo!

Sorry for seeing things.

I can understand how this loss of focus can effect Fowler's OBP.

So wait....
We were wrong to talk about the prospects who were likely to fail but turned into one of the best teams in baseball and we are now wrong for not talking about those players we were talking about before instead of another one that looks good but will come up and fail?

I would love to answer you but unfortunately I am not fluent in the Lakemoor dialect.

It's a simple question.

I agree with JORR.

I have no interest in adding more young talent to the team in the future.

Fuck 'em. Rot in the minors!

I don't even understand the premise. Good teams shouldn't ever discuss prospects?

Only when you shouldn't have talked about the prospects that turned into really good players that you should only be talking about now.

Trading this guy would warrant a huge name. I would hope that the Cubs wouldn't have a need so big as to need to trade this guy next year.

NEED or WANT...

As I see one big name pitcher coming in the offseason...and then no issues with trading for that final guy (Maybe even offense?) at the deadline...

I do love the "NEW" Cub fans though questioning my focus. ITS MY BUS BITCHES, GET ON!!!

Image
I dont even know if they still do that anymore? I would just guess not, but if you dont understand...sit down and Shooooshhh

If he gets you a guy who truly gets them over the top, fine. Otherwise, why not see what he can do when he's ready to play in the majors and figure out who to play where and who to trade at that point. Good problems.

He's not Hanley Ramirez for Josh Beckett, but if he can hit at AA then I think he's the guy who gets moved for one more high-end starter in July.
