Some of the best rock history out there is other great musicians describing what it was like to see him live. This is Pete Townsend. [/i]

And then Jimi died in '70, Zep took the U.S. and the rest of the world by storm between '70 and '73, and no one was talking about Hendrix anymore. Page eclipsed everyone, which is why Townsend never liked Zeppelin's music.

Who do you think Clapton and Beck were paying tribute to at the Arms concert in '83?? Pagey.

the only guy i think that has been anywhere close to jimi since is brad nowell. not for his guitar talent of course, but for his song writing. death didnt make jimi's songs more famous... he already was world renowned. but brads death went largely unkown, because his songs werent even that popular until years later when suddenly accepted as mainstream by a generation who never even saw him play. but just as with jimi, its been a terrible tragedy to the music world because there would have been so much more original content out there had he stayed alive a little longer... they both died at 28 iirc...

Hendrix is part of the 27 club. Cobain was the torch bearer of it for years your Morrison, Janis, Hendrix etc.. Ran the 27 club. Winehouse was the most recent club member of notoriety I believe.

Thank you Rube for bringing up Gilmour. My personal favorite of all time.

Brad nowell was 28.. But it was a month before his self titled released and he made millions. All he ever wanted was to be famous and just before he got there he double shot heroin to celebrate the pre victory ane he killed himself. Stupid but it really sucks because the amount of quality content he had yet to make was tremendous. Lile i said nobody even knew how good his shit was until years after he died. To this day his songs are making an impression on the new generations as if theyre new songs.
