How about Wood giving us 3 shutout innings to start the game?

Let's hope the rest of the relief corps brings their A game as well.

He did look sharp. Some might dismiss it, as the Phillies have had a awful season, but they sure were a pain sweeping the Cubs at Wrigley. Thank goodness Cole Hamels was traded.. Hopefully, the Cubs can return the favor, with a sweep in Philly.

Since it's in Philly, I bet the Cubs would to sweep this team with some Cheez Whiz and onions!

Unfortunate error by Rizzo. Need to shut it down tied. My opinion, with 2 outs the Phillies should have tried to score the runner who stopped at 3rd too.

WTF??? Good to have Eickhoff out of the game. If they can stop the bleeding, maybe they get to the bullpen in the 8th and Papelbon is gone, so that helps.

Interesting CSN stat that Bryant is hitting .270 in the 7th inning or later which is his exact average at every other point in the game.

Not only do they get to the bullpen, they knock out their current closer! Right thing to send Rizzo there IMO. Unfortunate Baez couldn't get a fly ball there, rather than sticking hit bat out and hitting a weak grounder.

Why does he love Strop so much?

Give him a rest.

Now lets get a run or two and get Strop the win and Rondon the save.

Fowler has a great approach and exceptional eye. My appreciation for his game has increased considerably.

Too bad. It was a great rally to get it even. That error by Rizzo bit em in the ass big time. But no quit in the team and they battled. 3 of 4 would still be a good trip there.

Murder Grimm. Murder Rondon. Do it in the public square, Joe.

Strop sucks on every level. If he was in the mid east he would get bombed. Racist.

Well, this was a awful weekend for the Cubs. In a series you should win 3 easily, they end up splitting. Already lost another game to the Cards, and could lose another to the Pirates. The bullpen is a huge problem and Haren sucks. Can't split series with shit teams like the Phillies.

The fact that the Cubs did nothing to improve at the July 31st trade deadline may not come back to bite them in the ass in the regular season, but a guy like Soria, who Pittsburgh picked up, would have been nice. Haren has been bad and Hunter has been even worse. When a contending team trades a reliever for Junior Lake, you know something is wrong with the picture.

I hope Pittsburgh catches the Cards. I would rather have the Cubs play the Cards in a one game playoff and then play the Pirates in a 5 game series. The Cards strength is their pitching depth, which would not be a factor in a one game playoff. The Pirates have issues with their 3rd and 4th starters, which could be exploited in a 5 game series. Of course the Cubs have the same issues.

The pitching plan is coming together very nicely.
