Jay Cutler and Matt Forte put on a show. The new defense give Rodgers problems just like the 49ers defense used to.

Bears win 27-16

Bears win 21-20.

Ghost of Doug Buffone blocks last second field goal.

28-17 Packers.

Cutler dumps off to Forte 15+ times.

Packers 38 Bears 24....

the packers will get a big lead early, but whereas last year it would be like 52-14 or 47-3 (and the FG got them to within 4/11 when it was 7-3 or 14-3) i think this team will be respectable and claw back from a 21-0 / 28-7 type advantage, but the packers will put it away because this defense simply has bad personnel. what i saw of the first team D in the preseason (yeah, i know bernstein) is that unlike lovie's bend-but-dont-break defense they were a bend-and-then-break defense... i.e. they'd show signs of cromulence and get in positions to make a big 3rd down stop and get the ball back or hold them to a FG, but then the opposing offense would get a ridiculously easy 3rd/4th down conversion and walk in for a TD.

so expect the packers to have 21 or so by the end of the first quarter or early mid 2nd (unless the bears offense can put together time consuming drives) and then an eclectic combination of them letting off the accelerator and fox/fangio figuring shit out will slow them down to where the offense should make it look respectable in the end, but they really had no chance.

Bears compete in first half and even pick Rodgers once to give fans a sliver of hope.

In the second half, things return to normal and GB moves the ball at will. Cutler plays from behind and gets frustrated, throwing two bad picks.

Packers win 34-13.

My analysis spot on. Can we keep it up? At least not an embarrassment to this point.

What a difference competent coaching makes.

Shea McClellan (sp) is still fucking awful.

If they can continue to control time of possession, yes. If not, the defense doesn't look like they can get a stop without penalties. Still much better than last year, though.

Imagine if the Bears had picked the best defender available with their 1st pick instead of throwing it away on an offensive player.

Coaching matters. I'm impressed with the gameplan thus far.
