No, Aaron Rodgers was. James Jones did a fine job, but his performance was mostly the product of a great quarterback. And they still win without Jones.

  50% completion rate with the obligatory pick and a 67 QBR. You want bouquets thrown at his feet for that?

The lazy fans that I know will put the blame 100% on him. They have for years.

Clearly, like usual, there are many bigger problems on this team.

When you have a below average QB, you need to be pretty good everywhere else to be competitive. It's not that Cutler is the worst player on the team, it's that because of how important the position is, he hurts them more than any one other player. It makes sense that Bear fans want him gone.

I can easily say the opposite.

If the Bears have the best QB in the league (Rodgers), then you can easily have below average other parts of your team.
This isn't rocket science.

Of course that's true. I agree. But that's not a rebuttal to my point. It's hard to find a good QB but it's easier than finding a good 21 other starters. Bears need to move on. Cutler is a below average QB who is too far into his career to ever believe he will be above average.

So did Rodgers.
If the Pack didn't have a guy that was cut by Oakland and NYG in the last 6 months, they lose this game.
He bailed Rodgers out many times.

What??? A Rod had a QBR of 140.5 today. A perfect QBR is 158.3.

Do you think Fouts is better than Brady?

My point has always been:

Who will they move on to? You could easily get........an Alex Smith-type QB, but that does make the Bears better in all of the other areas.
Cutler is fine.

The O-line os bad as a whole. They are blowing WAY TOO MUCH $$$ on Jared Allen, and yet....look at Peppers.
The rest of the defense is in shambles.

Stupid Cutler.

I agree, the team isn't very good and not ready to compete. That's a reason to move on from a 30 year old QB who isn't good. Not a reason to retain that QB.

I'd rather have Alex Smith. He's at least league average, and maybe very slightly above.

Yes, getting an Alex Smith type QB inarguably makes them better everywhere else because he costs much less and you can spend cap money elsewhere.

I'm in favor of the defensive personnel occasionally touching the opposing quarterback.

If I was a GM, I'd pay as much as I had to to get a Brady, Rodgers, Manning, and maybe 2 or 3 other guys (guys who can basically win you a Super Bowl even with inferior talent).

If I can't get one of those guys, I'm not paying my QB a lot. I'm spending yhe money elsewhere. I'd rather pay 2 million a year to an average guy than 20 million to a guy who is occasionally slightly better ( Cutler, for example).

Yea, I would like to see that sometime.

Mannelly said on pre-game the only way they would be able to win would be to pressure Rodgers.

Im sure Fangio will blitz more in the future. In his defense, he's not used to calling plays for 11 guys who suck. Probably will take him a couple games to figure out who can actually do what.

He isn't worth what he costs the team.

If you could pay Cutler $2M then keep him. Otherwise use his money to shore up the other 14 areas that suck.

You're still not refuting anybody's point here, at all. Just because other guys are overpaid and bad, doesn't make it not a big deal to have an overpaid and bad guy as the QB. If Cutler was decent, or if he was making a third of what he is, then you may have a point. There's no logical reason to keep Cutler, especially because of all the points you brought up. You're helping all of us make the case to get rid of Cutler asap.

When has that ever happened?
You could be the hybrid George Steinbrenner/Mark Cuban and spend a $Bazillion on a free agent Qb.......you'd still have Alex Smith.

Manning changed teams because he told his old franchise to move on, and then moved to Denver for less $ than he could have got from........whoever wanted to spend the most. He hand picked Denver.

I'm actually not disagreeing with that.

But that doesn't refute my point.
At all.

I'd rather try and shore up all of the other spots with a "good enough" QB.

Holy shit, we may be on the verge of an actual total agreement. Could be bigger than Middle East peace talks.

Regarding your last sentence, wouldn't you agree it is extremely difficult to shore up all the other many weaknesses on the team when you have a QB making Brady/Rodgers money? If you know for a fact that your QB will never be top 10, isn't it smarter to invest resources in the rest of the team? I am completely failing to understand why you don't want them to try to move Cutler, given that you and I view the rest of the team similarly. It's kind of baffling to me.

I just think it is extremely difficult to find an all time great QB.

Like Rodgers, or Manning, or hell....even Luck.

Cutler may be fine but he's not getting paid to be "fine," which means he's got to go just based on RoI reasons, let alone all the other stuff about not improving and being a jackass.

4-5 other solid starters and a rookie QB who probably wouldn't put up significantly worse numbers.
