The Sox defense certainly doesn't help him, but I really doubt the fact that it isn't good has the slightest effect on his approach on the mound. He's a strikeout guy who runs counts long. That's a positive and a negative in today's game. The positive being that not a lot of balls are put in play. The negative being that he often has a triple digit pitch count in the seventh inning.

He is scared to pitch to contact. Opposing hitters have almost a .400 babip off him in the second half.

That doesn't really illustrate fear. Regardless, the common wisdom is that on the pitcher's side, BABIP will regress to the mean (approximately .300). Could Sale be even better than he already seems?

Anyway, Sale may win the Cy Young, but my memories of his 2015 season will be the two long winning streaks the Sox were on that he busted. I expect my ace to end losing streaks and continue winning ones. You win 7 or 8 in a row and you have Sale going. The team is sky high. And then he goes out and lays an egg. It's just deflating. Some games during a season are more important than others.

Sale has a 4.41 ERA in the second half. That seems good to you? I'm sorry.

For him to win the Cy Young? Maybe.

As I said throughout last year, Chris Sale is really good.

It is just that Arrieta and Kershaw are better.

Chris Sale has as much or more talent than those guys, but the results aren't there. The Jay Cutler of pitchers.

Good idea but Sale wouldn't stand for it.
Bad day all around. Sale shit the bed. Cutler was Cutler. Cubs reverted to norm. Bulls rarin' to go with the new Tim Floyd. Hawks apparently part of what that douchebag Tim Baffoe called the Culture of Rape in our country.
Best thing about area high school football is a local team always wins.

Very interesting: Sale this year against the AL Central

Cleveland: 1-1 2.45 ERA in 22 innings
Detroit: 1-0 5.56 ERA in 11.1 innings
KC: 0-1 4.05 ERA in 13.1 innings
Minn: 1-4 7.36 ERA in 33 innings

That makes him 3-6 with a 5.20 ERA against the central.

Rest of the league: 9-3 with a 2.34 ERA

Have to wonder if the Central knows certain ways he tips off pitches.

This whole thing raises an interesting question: would Sale start for the Cubs?

They are VERY aware of this.

I think Sale could probably do better than Haren. On most nights.

I think you're selling him a bit short. He could be the left-handed compliment to Strop.

I am sure he will be fine.

I feel as though he is just worn down. That streak of games with 10 K's or more did him no good. He pressed for strikeouts and threw more pitches in games than he otherwise might have. After it ended, he wasn't the same pitcher. The guy should be shut down for the season. I would welcome him on the North side if the Sox want to deal him.

I am glad you would welcome one of the best pitchers on MLB to your team. It's a wonder how you manage to paint straight lines.

In 2015, Chris Sale is not one of the best pitchers in MLB.

Best pitchers get many outs and give up few runs.

Look who came out to play!!! Well, as much as I agree with you that he is one of the best pitchers, there seem to be others who are down on him. We have lots of good prospects to deal, so it might be a deal good for both teams.

For hitters the Cubs do. But "You" need all of the pitching help you can get.

That's why it makes sense. Each team has the ability to address needs of the other.
