That's no joke, while I agree chicagoED makes more sense than most on here...Scooter said that's his son.

Johnson is a little different than I remember. His arm swing is a lot shorter. His stuff is sharp but he's still inefficient working deep counts on just about every hitter. He has to figure out how to get outs earlier in the AB or he'll never make it as a starter.

He looked a lot a better his last start...he's battling but he gets ahead of hitters and then gives the AB right back to them.

You're right, he needs to stop being cute and attack.

Trayce Thompson's success extends to righty pitchers | CSN Chicago
Klawchat 9/10/15 - The Dish

I see no problem with the speed with which Robin Ventura has exposed Trayce Thompson to right-handed pitching, as long as the starts don't suddenly dry up.

Since ESPN.com discontinued chats, Keith Law equipped his personal blog to handle them, which is a plus-plus move. You still may not like what he has to say there:

.. Nick: What is a reasonable expectation for Trayce Thompson? Is there a chance he breaks out?

.. Klaw: Given his plate discipline in the minors and very long swing, I think these 50 major league at bats are giving people false hope. He’s a 70 defender in center with probably 20-25 homer power but I don’t think he’ll hit enough to get to that power upside.

Let me explain to you why this is stupid. There is no Sox fan sitting at home with his cock in his hand waiting for Trayce Thompson to be the next big thing. You're making the crucial mistake of believing that the typical Sox fan is just like you- someone who has fetishized prospects his entire life and been wrong the vast majority of the time.

Who gives a shit about Trayce Thompson? So next time, instead of posting this drivel, why don't you go rub one out while dreaming about how Gleyber Torres is better than the three All-Star shortstops the Cubs currently have in the big leagues?

Not really. It's economics. You're stuck with that stiff. He already looks like he's suffering PTSD. You can't really just junk him unless you're going to DFA him and eat the money, which we all know is very un-Soxlike. So you have to play him and hope he's better next year and maybe you can flip his lefty bat at the deadline 2016.

I do agree that Thompson should be playing more. You need to see what you have. He can play all outfield spots. There's no reason they can't rotate them all and have him playing somewhere everyday. But, I'm not high on Thompson. I don't like prospects. It's not that I just hate Cub prospects. And I know every player is a prospect at some point. I just don't really want to think about them until they're regulars in the big leagues. Still, a lot of other teams come up with guys that nobody ever thought much about and they become really good players. The Cardinals and Twins make a living at it. That Piscotty guy is a motherfucker.

Agreed on the $$$ but now is the time to play the kids for the Sox.... unless they think they are still in it... guys like Micha Johnson and Thompson need to play so they can see what if anything they have...same goes for Montas use him in every presure situation... yes the Twins and Cards both pull guys from out of nowhere.

Now, as Dr Ben said, "I will learn. I'll get better."

does anyone honestly believe Keith Law has personally scouted Thompson and every other minor leaguer in existence? No. He just looked at the stats and generalized. works 90% of the time.

Thompson was always able to adjust to whatever league he was in though. If he could hit .250 and 20 and great defense, that would be a major win for this shitty organization.

Oakland at The Cell. Melky with a nice double smacked into right center. Good hit.

does anyone honestly believe Keith Law has personally scouted Thompson and every other minor leaguer in existence? No. He just looked at the stats and generalized. works 90% of the time.

Thompson was always able to adjust to whatever league he was in though. If he could hit .250 and 20 and great defense, that would be a major win for this shitty organization.

Klaw doesn't see every minor leaguer but he sees a lot of them. I'd bet he saw Thompson in the Arizona Fall League.
