I don't think so. She's worked a lot of rock and roll shows and she's interacting heavily with the bands. She's not one to make shit up. She wasn't really presenting it as criticism, more as matter-of-fact statements.

Hey, I know you like the Dead. I don't see why them being douchebags on a personal level would have any bearing on one's enjoyment of their music.

It doesn't, I just think she has jumped to some conclusions. Anything about Bobby, I believe. He is an old codger, with a drinking problem. Phil just loves life. He enjoys every minute. He feels he got a second chance, after his liver transplant. You can hear the joy in his voice, and in Billy's, when they talk about playing. If these guys hated the fans as much as she claims, why would they keep playing their own shows, and sitting in at others? They have more than enough money to last several lifetimes. Who could get a read on Mickey? He is like wallpaper, just kinda there.

 Most of her complaints were about Bobby. He's the guy who really hates the fans. She said he's a cranky old bastard.

I love the Dead but would guess every word JORR's friend said to be true. Bobby and Mickey especially. they have both ALWAYS struck me as absolute rectums.

As Chus said, that seems very believable in regards to Bobby. It also sounds like the furthest thing from the truth if being said about Phil.

Imagine that, Bill Walton is the only one who doesn't look lost.

Fare Thee Well was the last time that the Big Four would play together. Bruce Hornsby was also a part of FTW. He played about 120 shows with the Dead from 88-92. Phil isn't interested in touring any more. I don't blame him. He is 77 years old. He opened a music club in San Fran, and plays there regularly with his band, as well as sitting in with other musicians.

Why is it a money grab when they tour? They're musicians. This is what they do.

Menudo? There have been different musicians rotating around the core since Jerry died in 95.

Not sure if I mentioned this before but as a young man I thought the Dead were a metal band because of the skull logo on their stuff. It was far too long before I knew otherwise. I think HS. I was smoking with a friend and he had them on and I asked who it was and my mind was totally blown. I couldn't believe it.

I'm excited for this show at Wrigley. Oteil Burbridge is supposed to be one of those real musician's musicians.

 When my wife was a kid she saw the name and logo on her older brothers' and sisters' albums and thought the same thing. She was very disappointed that they didn't sound like Opeth.

Otiel is fantastic. Saw him with North Mississippi Allstars in Aurora 2 years ago.

Enjoy the show.

I don't get into Dead & Co. I saw the real thing and JGB back in the day.

Bob has the intention of this thing continuing as I think it should after the originals no longer are around. As far as the money grab I am all for it but in a lot of ways it is.

The final three shows of the tour were postponed, due to John Mayer needing an emergency appendectomy. Who would have thought it would be him who had the health issues?
