I really liked Milo Hamilton and the Cubs radio guys back in the day. I disliked Brickhouse. I heard he was a real shithead.

Great win and series. Some hard fought games. Seems like they show up against the good teams, and piss themselves against teams like the Phillies. I would guess Cahill throws on Saturday. He has looked good in his few innings of mop up work.

Nice job Hendricks not being able to go 5 on a day your team scored 9 runs to get a win.

Once an object has been incorporated in a picture it accepts a new destiny.

Maddon needs to put Hendricks in the bullpen and start Cahill or Richards. I am done with the Hendricks experiment.

Haren needs to leave the rotation first.

Bottom 3 of this rotation is worst I can remember since late 90s. Richard or Wood should fill a start from here on out. The three H's blow.

First sign of trouble Hendricks out Wood-wada-Richard move in.

NO. They are planning to use those guys for another bullpen start this weekend to skip Hammell's next start. Hammell has not been right physically for a couple months and they are going to try to get him extra rest and hope it helps him to increase his effectiveness once again. Otherwise, they may not be able to use him in a playoff rotation. he has been mostly mediocre/bad for a couple months now.

No

Not now. that had been the plan. God knows what the plan will be now.

Except lets remember the miraculous start that Haren had against the Cardinals in St. Louis. Maybe pitching against his (one of) former team really brings out the best in him. With the fact they are intending to skip a turn for Hammell, I can't see how they can skip Haren too. So lets hope for another miracle from Haren against the Redbirds.

You have a selective memory. They had worse than that recently.

Also, the first 2-3 months of the season Hammel was very good. He was touted as a possible All-Star by several writers. He had an injury on July 8th (a pulled Hamstring) that was not given the rest needed. Instead, he soldiered on trying to help the team. In retrospect, it probably would have been best to put him on the 15 day DL and get the leg the rest. They are thinking of doing that now, to try to get him right for the playoffs. Might be too late, but it's worth a try, as he has been pretty ineffective of late.

I wonder if he even saw the play? Probably not. Even the Pirate announcers said it was just a good hard take-out slide and not a dirty play. Watched a replay on MLB .

If it were Austin Jackson taking out Neil Walker you'd feel differently.
