Stop. It's okay to get excited about your team. Don't let fans of teams who have nothing to look forward to bring you down with their negativity.

That sounds awful. But beyond that, it's not just the excitement level about the team. There is a thread about Kris Bryant in which you and several others claim he is having a poor rookie season. When others point out to you he will wind up with 25 -30 HRs and 100+ RBI, you say they are a "quiet" 25 and 100. It just doesn't seem like there's any way some Cubs fans will like anyone on the team.

As RPB said, it's your right to consume it however you'd like, and I agree. It just seems miserable. Showing excitement or acknowledging that the rookie of the year is doing well does not make you an Elmhurst Steve-style homer.

Felt the same way in 2005. Don't let leash make you feel bad for being a fan.

Many times teams that compete have a very limited life ahead of them, so when you see the Window open you go for it as a team and as a fan. You realize this EASILY could be a one time chance.

Very few times do you get runs like the Hawks have had getting 21 year old stars to start that run.

The urgency to win as a fan doesnt exist with this team. You want to see them win, and you would be just as excited and happy to see the win, but you dont feel without a win, thats it, guys are done or are all going to go get FA deals.

I feel really good in saying, this team will be better next year, no matter how this year finishes.

For some reason the optimism doesn't feel quite as absurd this year.

I BOLIEVE.

Did you enjoy 2005? I'll bet you did.

It just seems like Rogue hasn't. Even Pasta cracks a smile every so often.

And doesn't the "I'll be excited when the 27th out is made" mean you'll miss the whole year?

So many extremes.

They might win. They very well could. Probably won't. Well see

I did.

Once the playoffs started, I was sure they'd lose to Boston. Even though they were more talented.

Then I thought they'd lose to the Angels.

Once it got to the World Series I thought they'd win. But not in 4.

I understand Rogue's attitude.

Lots of Bernstein fans on here, RPB. They want us to sit in silent contemplation until the 27th out of the World Series that may not even come.

Life is sorrow.

Fin.

Rogue isn't telling you how to be a fan.

Interesting that you are telling him how to be a fan.

That seems more Bernsteinian.

Good luck trying to sleep tonight.

I'm not. I'm trying to help him. He might be able to be saved as long as he stays away from negative South Siders.

Leash doesn't like the optics of Cubs fans not dancing in the streets at the thought of October baseball.

Thinks if they don't want to be a fan the right way, they should just move on.

Really? Don't you think you should use those gifs a little less liberally?

No. Peeps just verbally knocked you out. Seemed fitting.

I should start a support group for Cubs fans who have been around Sox fans too much and have become miserable.

I'm thinking blaming anything and everything on Sox fans being mean might be a sign of mental illness.
