You didn't even read the thread. This was a pre troll thread about baseball philosophy.

par for the course.

If Cashner develops into a top flight starter.

huge if the player develops into a top flight starter, then huge if he can consistently stay a top flight starter.

take a look at sale. he's already washed up.

gimme the player taking the field 162 for 10 years. all day every day

This was 2012. Both players developing was theoretical.

The question was, top flight SP or top flight 1B value.

That philosophy is highlighted again with Schwarber and Rodon.

I still say give me the SP.

Drafting for position over talent is always the smart play.

If they had to choose between Rizzo and Arrieta are they choosing Rizzo?

great thought

the question is a top of the rotation starter v. a top position player. We have already assumed the talent is fully actualized.

your criticism of rizzo/cashner trade is based on the premise premier pitching is superior to premier hitting.

don't run away from your well-known position that the cubs lost that trade b/c premier pitching>premier hitting.

what you blindly ignore is "premier" pitching is volatile as seen by ya boy sale. hitting much easier to project, stay consistent, stay healthy and harder to procure.
