I was in the market for new athletic shoes for just wearing around. I have other shoes for tennis and jogging. I have gone across the spectrum over the past
10 years from New Balance to Asics to Nike. I purchased my first pair of Reeboks since the late 80s when they first became popular. So far they have just
been alright. They bother the hell out of me because the tounge slide off to the side and I can see my black no show socks. Other than that they have been
alright I guess. Always thought the ZigTech design was kinda cool.

The Reeboks I got back in 6th grade ( they still sell them at the outlet store I was at )

Asics.

Tried Addidas, Nike, New Balance....Asics just fit my large foot better.

That or it was the advertising that isn't on TV.

Switched to brooks after years of Nike and am very happy. Knowing if your foot pronates or supinates is good for picking out a brand and model. I've found acisics and new balance to be too roomy.

I wear these 90% of my day. I love flip flops but hate how wimpy they are. These weigh more than most shoes and have a solid ride.

first of all, any shoe thread on the CSFMB has to pay homage to NAS, the man whose "kicks game" absolutely destroys everyone on the board when he shows up @ board meetups. basically whenever Nas goes to a CSFMB function reptiles die in order to ensure the requisite levels of style and class that we've come to expect from NasHova. Respect due!

that said, i'm not (yet?) at the level where reptiles end up being proverbial ritual sacrifices to the fashion gods ("shoe money") in order to make sure i look good, so i try to keep it simple and relatively oldschool with some straightforward adidas game. last time i went out to buy shoes i was !!!?@# when i couldn't find a simple pair of white-on-black adidas superstar(2)s, you know, the shelltoed (de-facto?) fashion standard going back to the days of Run DMC and "[their] Adidas" (tho fuck Run DMC they were overrated in my book cuz i wasn't coming of age in the 80s when they were at their peak, but hey it's not like i don't have the down with the king 12" cuz good music is good music no matter who made it) but i was coming up emptyhanded.

i had been rocking a few pairs of the adidas samoas (more straightforward leather non-shelltoed shoe akin to the sambas, but in a multitude of colors) but when i was looking for a simple white-on-black version of those all i could find were goofy tryhard-multicolored suede versions.... then, after coming to the realization that i likely had to order what i wanted off of the internet, when my family suggested that on the way out of woodfield i try DSW (that "discount shoe warehouse" or whatever) i almost slapped them out of principle.... but i wanted to give into their urge to buy me shit so i humored them and i was shocked when i found the following over there:

Image

Image

and even in the low-tops these things look pretty decent in other colors:

Image

so yeah, i mean in my ideal world it would have a black sole/trimming as opposed to white (cuz roughly ~1.5yrs after getting them i stopped being hardcore about wiping down the white part around the sides to cover up scuffs and whatnot. i mean when you've been keeping the shoes in low-to-decent rotation for over a year theres no point in trying to wipe them up like they're still relatively/new) but they're comfortable and they're not too loud (like a lot of adidas' newschool rainbowesque color schemes that they put out there for ppl who either just want loud kicks or want to match up with some very specfic outfits/colors) and they go with my many white-on-black shirts (cuz as aceyalone once pointed out, your shoes should ideally "rhyme" with your shirt in terms of color/s) and if i decide to go with a white-on-black hat then i've got shoes/shirt/hat coordinated top to bottom.... but for the plethora/majority of days when you're not that tryhard white-on-black works with pretty much anything, hence why the default color of superstar(2) shelltoes are white on black.

btw i love it when chicks rock some white-on-black adidas (shelltoes) like that. chuck taylors are played out and stupid, plus i dont think they ever looked all that good/cute/endearing/stylishly-retro even when they were part of ben weasel's official "punk rock dress code" (someone bang the irony gong and get to the fundamental irony of the piece!) and i think adidas superstar(2)s are a much better standard-issue-footwear than chucks. not to mention, especially for women, wearing open-toed shoes (esp heels) and/or flipflops/sandals is tactically stupid; if you think someone's gonna possibly come at you to rape/rob/assault you and you gotta run, why would you wanna be caught dead in footwear that only come in handy in case you're walkign down the street and a random beach pops up out of nowhere? with basketball/skateboarding shoes i was always wearing footwear that had me covered in case a random basketball-game/skateboarding-session or anything of similar physical activity levels broke out, and especially with skateboarding shoes (designed to take abuse from wayward skateboard impacts and etc) these were shoes designed to take physical punishment, which covers "running for your life"

i've long said "it's hard to run from the armageddon in flip-flops" cuz basically you're running barefoot.

so unless studies show that 75%+ of monied men have foot fetishes where your exposed dolled-up-n-painted toes help you attract a potential mate, there's just no utility in wearing flip flops when you're out for the day/evening because if the shit hits the fan and you've gotta vamoose then your choice in footwear will be somewhere between a hindrance to a serious fucking problem, especially if bombs are dropping and glass is breaking and you're stuck in a bruce willis diehard-type scenario because you thought your freshly painted toenails were super-pretty and the world just HAD to see them ASAP. c'est la vie.

TLDR = i need a hobby and adidas neo's are a proper mix of oldschool simplicity and newschool ZANY LOLRANDOM-ALL-OVER-THE-PLACE OMFG IT'S LIKE AN EXPLOSION @ A SKITTLES FACTORY!!!!!! and the white-on-black hightops don't cost $100+ and go too far away from the oldschool superstar(2) formula that created the world's best standard-issue-shoe (in 07 @ my peak i had 4 brand new pairs of superstar2s: white on black, white on white, black on white (aka Run DMC colors) and black on black--- for like 2-3yrs i was set with my own personal rainbow of quality footwear to rhyme with whatever shirts/hats i had going. c'est la vie!

new balance

i have brooks ghost 7 running shoes but they are a little wide at the toes... but they work ok

my new balance shoes i use for casual wear and they are the most comfy things ive ever had

addidas are terrible, they are way too flimsy, at least the models ive tried

They discontinued my Nike about 3 years ago. Switched to Asics GT-2000 and like it better. It is lighter and lasts longer.

+1 for Asics. Everything is top-notch. The wrestling singlets are to die for.

Asics and Brooks. Nikes just don't fit my big feet, and I would rather pay $40 instead of $80.

I rock Tevas nine months out of the year. I get the ones with the solid bottom. I can walk all day in them.

For those of you that say guys shouldn't wear sandals, because you don't want to look at hairy toes, I say, stop looking at men's feet.

If we are switching over to sandals talk.....I'll go back to my usual stance:

If you are a dude, unless you are swimming or sleeping or showering, put your toes away. Ain't nobody want to see those bare, hairy, gnarly things hanging out.
Sandals in public should be a strictly female thing.
