Predict the first complaint after the Cubs lose:

"That friggin' Castro should not have started"

"What was Maddon thinking when he...."

" Nice time for Arrieta to shit the bed"

Cubs win the World Series by default on account of a 23-1 thrashing of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the Wild Card round. Other teams forfeit in order to hasten the arrival of the offseason and their preparations for complete rebuilds in order to emulate the Cubs' success.

Still not more dominant than the 2005 White Sox.

Arrieta is a gamer. He is old school. He and Bryce Harper are the preeminent specimen of MLB.

He can throw 123 whenever he wants.

I think his story is pretty fascinating. He's had about the same number of starts with the Cubs as he did with Baltimore (65 and 63, respectively). ERA with the Orioles: 5.46. With the Cubs: 2.33.

Is this the crap we are going to hear from White Sox fans when the Cubs win the World Series? "WE DID IT FIRST!, 2005"

NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE 2005 White Sox except a few die hard Sox fans. The Blackhawks have taken the White Sox spot on the chicago championship mantel. The 2005 championship is collecting dust next to the Bears 2006 NFC championship. When the Cubs win 2005 will be put in a box and stuffed in the attic with the Ozzie Guillen, Frank Thomas bobble heads.

Oh, and for the record, it isn't about doing it first. It is about doing it better.

They also dominated Theo.

Chris Carpenter is the only one I can think of that is close

49-50 4.83 ERA with Toronto
95-44 3.07 ERA with STL

The 2005 won their division. That is something you will never be able to say about this year's Cubs regardless of how they do in the playoff.

Yeah,I'm pretty sure the Giants fans are losing sleep over it in 2014.

No excuses, no bad calls, your best v Their best. Its why the next series isnt right. You used your best, now go play the team that is suppossed to be the best. Goes for Pitt or Cubs v Cards.

That is also something I'd never care about.

However, if I did...it would be more impressive to win the World Series having not had home field advantage in any series.

Frank,
Winning a WS with 4 rookies in the lineup would be more impressive.
