Why don't you go ahead and explain to the class how you know what's natural for Jake Arietta?

I don't want to speak for Keyser, but I'm not sure that's what that term means. I'm guessing he's not speaking specifically about Arrieta, but any thrower in general.

If you want to get technical, any overhand throw is not "natural". But it's definitely not natural for anybody to pick up a baseball and throw it across their body overhand. Rather, the arm would go straight up and straight down. That movement would have less torque/strain on the arm.

That being said....many, many, many pitchers do it. Without harm.

Since you don't apparently read very well ... as I said, I meant "natural" in the sense that "the [motion] he'd been using since whatever age it mattered to him how he threw the ball ... it felt natural to him."

And you are in fact speaking for him by attempting to interpret his obtuse posts.

You're not reading well either. Go back and look at his first post.

"A" natural throwing motion.
You turned that in to "HIS" (Arrieta's) natural throwing motion.
I'm not speaking for him any more than you are, I suppose. We are both interpreting his posts, no?
And you overuse "obtuse". A lot.

I was too unclear in my original post; because of that oversight, I elected to take the time to restate what I said in an effort to clarify my intended meaning. It's really not that difficult to follow.

Shocking that you of all people would notice the word "obtuse".

Yes many pitchers do it. Jared Weaver and Doug Fister are the most prominent "spinners". They pretty much stride towards the 3rd base dugout and it's taken its toll as they have both had numerous injuries. Madison Bumgarner and Cory Kluber are others who have been able to stay healthy.

Luckily....neither one of us have to interpret what we think he is saying. He explained in detail! Just for you!
Hope that wasn't too obtuse!

No; it's pretty clear how bothered you are being labeled "obtuse".

Still waiting on that explanation about how you know what is natural or what is not for Jake Arrieta. Thanks in advance.

I feel like I missed something. I missed the part where this all turned into anger and name calling.

Any-who, go Arrieta!

Gary Jones is going to cost the Cubs a game in the playoffs. Hopefully it's not the Wild Card game.

Gary Jones has one of the best hats in the league.

You leave Gary Jones alone.

The blond headed chuckle fuck in the post game show interview with Arrietta called it a no hitter and so did Mully today. What's in the water out there?

I remember thinking he had great mechanics as he looked so smooth. And then I think either Murph or the HFC had Mike Marshall on and he said Prior's mechanics were awful and it was only a matter of time before he got hurt.

Was surprised Maddon kept him out there for over 120 pitches against such an anemic offense...Maddon seemed to admit afterwards that he was trying to bolster his Cy Young chances. I also heard (but will have to go back to the recording of last night's game to verify) that Maddon pulled in the infield in the 1st inning with a man on 3rd and 1 out. I think that's taking it a bit too far--that would be making a move at the expense of the team to help an individual. There's no way a manager would do that in the 1st inning, especially knowing you're facing one of the Brewer's crappy pitchers.

Nice hustle by Baez. What an awful call at first by the fossil umpire. But what the hell is Addison Russell swinging at to make the last out? he didn't have 2 strikes on him, so why swing at that crap?

Russell has looked bad @ the plate for a while now. I dunno what irritates me more..the giant blue baking oven MIT Baez puts on when he gets on base or that stupid ass mlb logo on his neck.

Not driving the ball lately like he was for several weeks. Not showing the plate discipline he was either.

Not that the Brew Crew without Gomez and Ramirez who they traded and Braun who is out with back problems is a great hitting team right now, but retiring the first 14 batters is still pretty impressive.

if you have to reach with the bat to hit a ball, it's not a strike. Baez and Russell have both got themselves out reaching for balls out of the strike zone and neither had 2 strikes on them.

Cerrano certainly seems to have found the homerun stroke.

Its really nice to have such a deep offense. Lots of weapons. Soler, Baez, La Stella. I like that guys off bench are legit threats

Soler needs to get back everyday in right, Schwarber needs to grab some pine.. When he does hit..no more 2 hole..I'm thinkin 6th or 7th.

Cubs clinch this week..no need to run Arrieta out next start..Greinke just got skipped.

Where the hell is Wada.

Arrieta stays in the rotation. No way you get him out of the rhythm he's in. Just limit his pitch count to around 90. I like the way Soler is swinging the bat since coming back. More power again. Schwarber is a tougher call. I would still keep playing him in LF though. Higher ceiling than Coghlan and floor is pretty close.

Good series. Again, like in the Cardinal series, it's tough not to want the sweep after taking the first 2. But in the words of Meatloaf, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
