If Lester had any kind of decent move he could have picked Morse off easily.

This inning would be a great time to break through. The pirate bullpen is tough and the right guys are up here.

WOW! Starlin with not just a big hit, but legs it into a triple with just 1 out.

Can't wait for the Cubs to beat them in the wildcard. Damn it, if Soler could have just put the ball in play....

I knew we weren't tying it with Soler and Baez coming up. Both are complete bum slayers who can't touch anyone with decent stuff.

Awful last two batters, the two guys on the team with no concept of situational hitting or the ability to shorten up and try to plate the runner from third.

Soler trying to hit one into Lake Michigan.

Baez - 4 pitches, 4 strikes, one foul ball.

Good night. Gear up for the WC game in Pitt on Oct 7th.

Everyone in the stadium knew that 2-0 pitch was going in the dirt but Baez. Head case. Go Pirates.

So it's official: our $155 million man will end his first year as a losing pitcher. The worst part is that his lackluster performance may result in Ricketts refusing to sign another "ace" pitcher for big bucks. Lester should thank his lucky stars for Arrieta taking the pressure off him.

Of course, if Lester kicks ass in the playoffs, all may be forgiven.

I'd rather the Cubs go with Lastella and Denorfia in the playoffs.

And the pitching shit show continues outside of Arrietta and Lester.

With the Rizzo promise to tear the clubhouse up win or lose today, what is the mindset of the young guys?

Hopefully they aren't just happy to be a playoff team.

If they get past the Bucs, their 3rd starter should be a bullpen start, IMO. Use Wood, Richard, and Cahill.

Glad to see the Cubs finally in the playoffs, but to back in and then come out with this shit performance today is disturbing. Boys need to step up this last week.

Good game by Pirates trying to chase down the Redbirds. Seems weird that they are going to celebrate in clubhouse after a loss but have fun Cubs they certainly earned it on the field.

What a weird time to celebrate in the clubhouse.

I mean I understand celebrating a playoff spot the day it happens, but the next day after a loss just looks weird.

It doesn't mean anything in the long run.

It's a 162 game grind of a season and this game meant nothing today. It's okay to celebrate.

You're basically a day removed from it and just lost today's game. I don't think mentally I'd even feel like celebrating

Yeah, by losing these last two they have less of a chance to pull out a W in a 1 and done.

After 150+ plus games I wouldn't let what has happened the last two days change my attitude. It's good reason to get shitfaced.

Yeah it's not a big deal, and I'm sure Maddon will have them ready.

The visual just struck me as strange but who cares.

Correct. It's probably a stranger visual to us since we don't play. To them, who are engaged in every minute of every game in a very long season, the loss today probably meant nothing.
