He's already the Sox team pet. Give him a treat and he'll swear at the Cubs!

Thank God there are Cubs fans to tell old timers like pasta the "right way" to be a fan.

The White Sox tried to win this season and it didn't turn out. TRY being the key word.

After 4 seasons,Theo decided to TRY.

He's just a seasoned veteran of Cub failure. I understand the hope of young bucks like you and Hank. bigfan should know better.

Haha. Listen to yourself man! Did you want him to to try like the Sox did and wind up mediocre with no Schwarber or Bryant??

But this is the point. 1969, 1984 and 1989 don't have any bearing on a team where no one but the managers and Ross were around to see it.

I'm around plenty of old jaded Cubs fans. None of them are as purposely miserable or antagonistic as jimmy.

Addison Russell, Bryant and Schwarber probably didn't have hair on the balls when Gonzalez booted that double play in 2003. I'm done being a slave to history.

They're hiding their pain. Their nerves. Their memories.

Jimmy isnt. He's scared.

He's looked death in the face and he's felt that icy hand grip him.

He knows this might be his last chance to see a World Series.

He isn't taking chances.

He isn't going to test the Baseball Gods.

No, he is not correct and it's stupid to say that. Hendry spent a lot of money. He traded for players (Ramirez and Lee) their teams couldn't afford to retain and signed guys (Soriano, Milton Bradley amongst them) as free agents. He didn't do a very good job with the minor leagues, didn't draft all that well. He just spent a lot of money on established players and he never won a title. He wasn't awful, but he wasn't great either. Theo has built an organization that should have sustained success. Not a team looking to catch lightning in a bottle every few years. A team poised for long-term winning and contention for multiple titles. Do you actually believe Hendry was a better GM and executed his team plan better than Theo and Jed are now?

When Arrieta takes the mound he's gonna feel the weight. Of course every Cub team says "all that losing has nothing to do with us" and then they go out and lose. jimmy is just guarding his broken Cub fan heart. Can you really blame him?

Yeah. He will feel the weight as much as Cole will for the Pirates.

Jim Hendry had a division winner and would've had a World Series appearance (at least) if not for Dusty Baker.

Theo Epstein had a 2nd wildcard winner.

As I said it will probably change, but to this point Hendry had more success.

If they win, Jimmy will ask, "How are they going to win next year?"

It is a very common them I see form the over 50, Cubs fans crowd.

Exactly.

He's Randy Quaid in Major League 2.

Part of Theo's plan is to sign pitchers and develop hitting. Right now,the Cubs have some of the worst SP I have seen on this team in the last 5 years as far as depth goes. So where Hendry gambled on FA hitting,Theo will be gambling on FA pitching.

You're comparing Hendry's entire tenure to Theo's first few years.

And what does shitting on the situation do for you. So you can say "told you so!!!!". You are ruining your moment. The Cubs don't make the playoffs often. I would rather savor the feeling, maybe it all falls apart next year...

But they tried by signing middle of the road and over the hill players. had they signed star players in their prime, it would be different. When you sign Melky and LaRoche, you are trying to catch lightning in a bottle and hoping. it was a shitty plan.

I guess it doesn't carry the weight and meaning as "self-loathing Cubs fans" does leash.

I'll try harder to be more meaningful.

Epstein is about half way through Hendry's regime. Epstein:4 seasons & Hendry had 9.

To compare the two GMs is silly at this point. They had different plan of attack. Makes sense for Hendry to have more success early and less later. HOPEFULLY it's the opposite for Theo.
