I've seen a lot of baseball in my years. However, I haven't seen anything like what I've seen from Arrietta in the last three months. He's been amazing.

Jenkins had an awesome stretch from the middle 60's to the early 70's that has been unmatched. Sutcliffe was awfully good after coming over in 84 and Prior was pretty dominant in 2003, but I agree that Arrieta is having the best single season I have witnessed from a Cubs starter as well.

Arrieta is perfect through 5 innings. If he finishes the game that way, is the Cy Young his? I have to think so, without question.

This is pretty dang special. The one problem I can see with tonight's performance is if Arrieta keeps this up, I cannot see Maddon taking him out. Thus, the pitch count going over where he might have otherwise limited it.

With the game still being close, I am interested to see how long Maddon leaves him in the game. 84 pitches so far through 7.
