Against a RHP

CF: Fowler
2nd: LaStella
1st: Rizzo
3rd: Bryant
LF: Coughlin
C: Montero
RF:Denorfia
SS: Russell
P: Arrieta

Against a LHP

Castro at 2nd. I need more discipline at the plate and prefer LaStella & Denorfia (over Soler). I fear Castro's glove in a key situation and will only start him against LHP.

Also,Quinton Berry is on my 25 man roster for the playoff run.

IF he gets out of this funk. I know Maddon likes his teams to be strong at defense. Denorfia has been steady all year. I think Maddon prefers him in RF as opposed to Cogs.

Schwarber in left for sure. You don't take power like that out of the playoff lineup. Lastella stays on the bench so you have a left handed pinch hitter to go with a right handed pinch hitter in Soler late in games. Castro is too hot to not be the starting 2nd baseman in the playoffs. I agree with Denorfia in right unless Coghlan heats up before the playoffs but right now he is ass.

I'm not going to argue with that. The one thing I fear is Castro having a brain cramp and making a costly error in a one game scenario. Schwarber moves pretty good out there in LF. It comes down to either him or Cogs.

not likely at 2B

Anyway, the more likely scenario is that a rookie makes a mistake in a high pressure situation.

This game is most likely going to come down to a late inning battle of the benches. I think I'd want Coghlan coming off the bench in that scenario.

Cogs along with Schwarber have had a lot of big hits for the Cubs this year. Maybe put Cogs at 2nd but Maddon wants defense.

Denorfia isn't making the WC roster. He is a bad defender and Austin Jackson is the better bat as well.

The correct answer is:

Fowler
Jackson
Coghlan
Rizzo
Bryant
Lastella
Montero
Arrieta
Russell

Jimmy what is your fascination with bad bench players?

There is one guy who is a big bat (Schwarber), one guy who is an awesome glove (Jackson) and you pick the journeyman guy who is bad at both.

And La Stella is clearly a weapon to come off the bench.

It will be the exact lineup from last night against Burnett

Depends... against Cole I expect LaStella to have better at bats than Baez or Castro.

Schwarber would be my big left handed bat to face right handers late in the game.

I don't want Baez to start because I want him to come in and play 3B or 2B late in the game for added defense.

I'm worried about Schwarber in that big PNC outfield.

Valid concern. But if history is any guide then he'll be removed for Jackson by the 6th as they protect theWhatever-0 lead Arrieta has

I keep waiting for Arrieta to have a 4 ER in 6 innings type of game. He is long overdue for one but it just isn't happening. The man is immortal.

One thing I was worried about last night was the Pirates getting some hits and a couple of runs on him last night and getting some confidence vs him to build on for the WC game....1 hit lol. They're scared shitless of him at this point and will be throwing everything they have vs the Cards to avoid Arrieta.

No one has sent me gift baskets as apologies for doubting my Jake Arrieta thoughts the past two years.

No skittles though, please.

Castro been on fire, can't take him out of the lineup until 7th inning or later for defense.

Same here, but I really hope it doesn't happen. That said, Kershaw keeps coming clean from pissing the bed in his playoff starts, so its probably not a big deal long term.

CF Fowler
LF Schwarber
RF Bryant
1B Rizzo
3B Baez
2B Castro
C Montero
P Arrieta
SS Russell

Late in the game I switch out Castro for LaStella and Jackson goes to RF and Bryant moves to LF.

You are taking my "try" thing out of context. It's pretty obvious when a GM decides to shitcan a season. I'm sure most players try.

What has he done wrong? He's a contact hitter, not much power and I thought Joe was using him as a def. replacement, too.

This Jackson guy hasn't hit shit since he got here.

You talking about the bad bench player that just won a big game in late September when the rest of the lineup was sleep walking?
