It's not totally crazy. I thought the hawks getting bounced in 09 gave them the impetus to be unstoppable in 2010. Angry and looking for revenge. I thought that them losing in 09 was what started really bringing it together.
This year's Cubs are a lot like the 09 hawks I think.

I'm just saying. A taste of defeat makes them never ever want to feel that way again. No one expected them to be here. We all had them pegged close to .500.

Don't get me wrong. I am absolutely rooting for them. I really want them to win. I have been waiting for this for a long time.

My point is that losing this might be a real springboard to greatness.

2016, 2017, 2018.......they aren't a cinch to make the postseason at any time. Nobody is.
An arm injury or two to a pitcher, an inside pitch hits Bryant on the wrist, whatever.

I understand your point Darky, but come on now. Let's see them beat the Pirates then stomp out the roach Cardinals then maybe just maybe lose the NLCS and then they can get pissed off for next year.

They need another quality starter anyway as everyone knows.

If their debt covenant restrictions allow them to add maybe a Zimmerman (i.e another 100M+ contract), then the division should be theirs next year.

Oh my god. Dude. I'm not saying they SHOULDN'T go for it. I'm not saying they shouldn't try like hell to win. I'm not saying I don't WANT them to win. I'm not saying they're NOT going to win.

The point, again, is that should they lose... they're not "Losers", it's not a "Loveable Losers" mentality, I'm saying that loss has the potential to turn these guys into monsters going forward. A guy like Maddon... look he's no Lou Pinella. He isn't going to let them hang their heads and cry about it. These aren't the entitled veterans that didn't learn shit from the 08 drubbing they got in the postseason.
They're kids, a lot like the Hawks in 09, first taste of the post season, and a loss like that could light some serious fire.
