i didn't think the prequels were as bad as most people say. I'm not a huge Star Wars junkie but grew up with it and found the prequels entertaining. Yes, they had flaws but they were entertaining.

I'll give the new one a chance.

Could not disagree more. Love the Star Trek reboot. Glad they replaced the original cast with actual actors who own current resumes. Seems like Star Wars failed to follow that lead and look at the results.

It must be a generational preference then. They were still showing re-runs of original Star Trek episodes on tv when I was growing up in the 70s and early 80s, so that's how I became attached to the original cast. Any episode that hard Kirk fighting the Klingons or Romulans in the Neutral Zone was spectacular to me. I think I had some of the Star Trek figures, teleporter and phaser as toys.

I didn't see Star Trek I in the theater in '79, but do remember seeing Wrath of Khan in '82. Spock's sacrificial death brought tears to my eyes. The movie was masterfully done and superbly cast with a great score contribution by the late James Horner---one of his finest.

Didn't Grand Moff Tarkin in Episode IV tell Vader that he was the last of the Jedi, not knowing about Luke's development as one or about Yoda still living?

Yet, in this new film this Kylo Ren character is supposed to be a discipline of Vader we never heard of and an evil Jedi fighting Luke? Vader had hunted down and killed all the Jedi other than his former master in Obi Wan (and Yoda). Such a plot seems inconsistent to true Star Wars fans. But hey, Lucas made it up as he went along by first having Obi Wan say that Vader killed Luke's father, only for him to make Vader Luke's father.

From what I have read Kylo Ren is not a Jedi. His name is not even Kylo Ren. Kylo is a first name and Ren is a name all the folks in some group use as a last name. They are some sort of association that admires the empire and Vader and will try to continue what they think is an unfinished job by Vader and the Emperor.

Another effective trailer. And a friend of mine got us tix to a theater to see it on Saturday of the opening weekend. It's already sold out on Thursday within 1 minute.

This movie may make a billion in its first weekend. It's going to shatter every record, easily.

Lots of speculation as to why Luke was not in the trailer....

While I like the original 3 just fine, I was never an OTT fanboy. I ignored the next three.

The new trailers, though, look fantastic. Definitely gonna see this one.

I am jacked for this movie.

Which feels weird for me because I hated the last three with the white hot intensity of two suns.

This is what I got from the trailer:

Battle of Endor,

Did. Not. Happen.

Did you just fall off the last turnip transport ship??

Kylo Ren is obviously Han Solo and Leia's kid. That would make Vader his gran pappy. Some Terrans, I tell ya. Sheesh.

The prequels were among the worst movies ever made. Attack of the Clones may actually be the worst movie ever that was relevant upon release. They are horrible pieces of shit.

I was initially thrilled about this, and now I'm backtracking steadily almost by the week. Some of the rumors and leaks paint a scary picture of the plot and **newsflash** JJ Abrams sucks.

You wanted it to be good, because the original three were, but looks like another CGI disaster.

The premise and voice of the new bad guy are laughable, "I will finish what he started." Super cheesy.

Won't bother to see it. Couldn't care less.

Star Wars movie dialogue CHEESY??!?!?!? Oh, the humanity!

That's OK, Panther - not everyone is going to be excited.

yeah it's not like harrison ford once said, quite famously, "you can type this shit, george, but you can't say it." and that is going back to "a new hope".

I thought the trailer looked good and the CGI and battle scenes looked very good to me. I have some pretty high hopes and am not going to
let anyone kill my buzz about it. I can make my own judgments about it when I see it on the big screen.

It's a propaganda movie for "Black Power" or racial diversity, take your pick, just as Lincoln was with the Tommy Lee character for interracial relationships.

Don't underestimate Abraham's and their producers need to inject some liberal political message into this film.

I will keep my good memories of the original three and leave it at that. Why undo a happy ending, just for greed?

Episode's I-III weren't necessary or called for, nor is Episode VII. Hollywood has no originality any more.

The film is a social experiment of epic proportions to see how many people are brainwashed/programmed to give away their money for a decades old cultural phenomenon.

I object to it just on the basis on non-conformity. I bet you anything Terry Boers will not see it, because, while being Bernstein's stooge most of the time, he is very discerning and would not allow himself to be hoodwinked.

You are welcome to your opinions of course. Why wouldn't a galaxy in turmoil eventually create new storylines and characters over the course of many years?
I guess they should have just stopped making movies after the original Star Wars because that was a happy ending.

True. But Lucas didn't make Empire because of the success of Star Wars. He had a trilogy in mind from the beginning, and all the original actors signed up for three movies from what I understand. Lucas had some idea of a story-line for all three.

And remember, too, that in the first film the main bad guy, Darth Vader, got away at the end. It was his escape that set up the sequel, even though there was a happy ending.

And how is it that the the Empire has such advanced technology that it has Death Stars and Star Destroyers but not a Tow Truck Star Destroyer for that occasional steering mishap when a Star Destroyer gets grounded on a sand planet?

C'mon already.

Not a big fan but I thought that preview looked pretty solid.
