Has anyone brought this to DG's attention recently?

Interesting thread in retrospect.

Serious question......if the Cubs could swap Schwarber for Rodon, would you make that deal? Schwarber has nice power and has gotten more disciplined at the plate of late, but will probably never win a gold glove, though he is no butcher in the outfield by any means and has pretty good speed for his size. But the Cubs need starting pitching and Rodon should have a nice career as well. I could make an argument either way on this one.

That's true, they do. No need to trade a guy who could be another cornerstone piece.

You think that competition is finished? I'm VERY comfortable with having Rodon instead of Bryant moving ahead.

Come on, I would have at least got DG v GD right...and would have no problem re-bumping the thread on my own.

Actually wondering who DG was for a bit.

You think that competition is finished? I'm VERY comfortable with having Rodon instead of Bryant moving ahead.

I'll bet you $100 per WAR difference going forward. I get Bryant, you get Rodon.

I'll even let you pick the time period. Anything will round up on partial WAR. .1 is another 100 bucks for the winner

Hopefully this convinces some of the doubters that I am not ONE POST....I would never offer up such a boring wager!

My wager offer was well documented and for the record the Sox fan base as a group chickened out. GD would have been the CEO of the synidcate and since Sox fans love calling their owner THE CEO, it would work nicely.

Dr. Ken and a few others wanted action on the Cubs side.

Saved the Sox fans some cash

Have I gone somewhere?

You bumped a thread that is almost a year old and yet, here I am. In fact, I welcomed you to continue to bump this thread as their careers progress.

Now, as far as bullshit, it was just a short few months ago that I was told the same thing when questioning the quality of Schwarber's career versus Rodon's. I expect those people to come out of the woodwork should Schwarber adjust to his earlier form. Right now, they are quiet.

Why does it upset you that I would think a starting pitcher who showed #1 starter ability over the last third of the season could surpass Bryant?

Still comfortable.

Rodon is learning at the MLB level where his mistakes are magnified.

It's not even fair to compare the two now. Rodon would have to be great to get to Bryant's level. He'd have to be a lock down number one to equal Bryant. And that is just because Bryant is looking every bit the part of a super star.

What's the deal with dumb arguments about idiotic $1000 bets that end up not being seen through to the end anyway?

A lock down #1 starter would be worth more than Bryant, as you can see in the Sale trade discussions.

You are correct that it is not fair to compare the two now, as Rodon is a year younger and playing a position that generally takes far longer to master.

Timely Bryant, so timely.

Edit: Yeah if you have Bumgarner, probably worth more. But with injuries more prevalent among pitchers and Bryant playing every day, it's a pretty close call. And as you say, pitchers tend to take longer to develop, so you're getting Bryant as a star at 24, not waiting until 28.
