Anyone have experience repairing a gas oven? I have one where stove top is fine as well as the broiler. The problem is that the oven turns on but does not get hot enough. Any likely ideas like a thermostat or things like that? Easy to replace? If not, what are reasonable rates guys charge?

Turn it on and put your head in it and see what happens and report back.

I don't know for certain, but I'd weigh the price of getting a new oven against having it get repaired.

Geez, BRick.

I have a microwave question. It takes ours exactly one minute to start working. If you need to heat something for 30 seconds, you enter 90 seconds. Anyone heard of this?

Ignitor.

If your oven temp "hangs" but you still see a flame....most likely the ignitor. Easy to replace/and inexpensive. Quite literally plug n' play.

It's usually on the back side of the stove.

Two screws out, replace, refasten the screws.

I have an electric stove. Screw pilot lights.

here is the question:

A service call running in the 200 dollar range for a fix vs. a new stove.

I don't think gas fumes could do any more damage to his brain, than FOX and Breitbart have.

How would you get the flame if the Ignitor is bad?

Igniter. Easy fix. I have done it at least twice on our oven. About a $50 part. Plug and play.

My rule for appliances when they break:

If you are planning on staying in that house for more than two years, just buy a new one. Pretty much all of these things are designed to last a very short time, plus you get new stuff and new stuff > old stuff.

Our fridge kept leaking about a year ago. My wife went back to HH Gregg after 4 service calls didn't fix the issue. We got a bigger better fridge for free. (floor model) like new that works great.
