From what I just read in USA Today it was hardly a private meeting. They made it sound like some quick thing for a lot of people like a book signing to me anyway. Vatican stated very clearly the visit does not endorse her situation From what I have heard for the past year or so hasn't this guy met with all sorts of diverse people even when it is contradictory to Catholicism and has been open and welcoming? I thought he was talking about the church being more open to gays and communion and so on even if against marriage ceremonies in the church? The thing confuses me as the seemed to really be all in on this pope.

Supposedly this was orchestrated by the Vatican though who asked her to be there. They didn't just show up.

It's a very passive aggressive thing for the Pope to do. I'll meet with you and give you credibility but I want it to be done in secret so we can deny but not deny what it actually means.

The bottom line is that this Pope is no different than any of the past ones, which is fine, but this whole PR campaign about a new vision for the Catholic church is proving to be nothing but white smoke and mirrors.
