How does he rank among MLB managers for sacrificing outs (bunts)?

I don't have any strong feelings one way or the other, but it's hard to win when you get limited to no offensive production from 3B, SS, 2B, C, DH, and RF for large chunks of the season.

Sox are 22nd in bunts. 7th in the AL.

Cubs are 20th, but only the Mets have bunted less in the NL. Could be the Lester sucks at everything effect though. Bottom 3 NL teams in bunting all in the playoffs.

Well sort of. Scouting pros yes and developing positional players sure. It is clear though over last several years their plan is to draft pitching first and it has worked.
