That was my first thought, but I'm hoping it's just the Cubs fan in us. I think we should like this?

Ah, whatever.

Worst case, people laugh at the Cubs. But they'll do that anyway.

Go down shooting.

Cubs win 4-1. Bucs go home. Cubs on to St.Louis.

There is something incredibly ironic about a Cubs player taunting another team's fan base over hope.

Sounds like a confident guy who knows he's better than what he's facing. Maybe he gives up 1. My worry is the offense gets tight bungholes. Arrietta ain't going Dempster on us. ( he doesn't have a nanny)

They will win this game. All is well. On to St. Louis to fuck up all the Cardinals plans for domination of the N.L.

I'm more worried about the offense than Arrieta.

Arietta has his first bad start in three months and the Cub strike out in every critical situation.

Pirate 4 - Cub 1.

Just wait till next year.

Exactly! This is why you want Arrieta on the mound for this game.

You want the guy to think this game is his and there is no way he is losing it.

The way things have worked out is nearly ideal. I love that the Cubs can eliminate the Pirates in just 1 game and with Arrieta pitching, I love the Cubs chances. After dispatching the Pirates, they can eliminate the depleted Cardinals. I like their chances in a series better VS the Cardinals at this point than I would against the Pirates in a series, as the Pirates rotation is much better right now. I would guess the score might be 3-1 Cubs in this one VS the Pirates. Should be a great game. 2 outstanding teams and 2 outstanding pitchers starting the game. I really don't see the Cubs winning the pennant this season, much less the World Series. But I like their chances in the wildcard game and VS the Cardinals. This is all gravy. The year on the whole has been a great success already. But I do hope it continues for another couple weeks, as the playoff experience is so valuable to the young players.

Whoever wins the wildcard play-in is going to the World Series.

Mark it down.
