Do you really have Division pride?

I would have much preferred the Cubs to compete against the Sox competition this season.

Are you suggesting that the NL Central doesn't play in the National League?

The real key was the way Montero frames pitches.

Considering the Sox competition was 30 games over vs. the Cub competition, that's probably not a great idea unless you want them to lose. Oh wait, you do.

Why is that an "inherent advantage"? Do you know half the games are played without the DH?

Yes.

Now that professional AL hitter fills in at 1st or is an above average bench bat. The DH is an abomination and should be abolished.

And in the NL park, AL pitchers who never bat at all get in the box. That seems like a far bigger advantage than having a decent hitter available for a single at-bat, or worse, jamming him in a lineup where his defense lacks.

What are you talking about? My persona? That I'm daring to tell the almighty JORR that he's wrong? Oh the horror? Someone tells JORR he's wrong! Obviously must take a total asshole to do that. He's never wrong... except in April when prediction time comes around I guess.

You just seem pretty fired up about how great the Division is. It just seems like something Elmhurst Steve would do.

It's quite obvious that his point was that the Cubs record is even more impressive because of the competition in their division.

I never believed a manager is worth just 1 or 2 wins a season. They are much more than that with every lineup and pitching change they make. Bunting or swinging away decisions all factor in with the manager. Where the infield is positioned,OF shallow or deep. There is no way all that = a few games a year.

Except that in about 95% of those situations every guy is going to make the same decisions.

95% of the NL managers didn't bat the pitcher 8th this season. I still hate that.

So maybe they would have won 105 games with a normal manager!

Also, Tampa improved their record this year, without Maddon.

Cubs are a good team with a good Manager. Period.

current state, I would take their roster, manager, and front office over my that of my White Sox.

They haven't won anything yet, but they're sure as hell a lot closer. Just the way it is.

That doesn't say a whole lot for the Cubs though. You could probably say it about at least fifteen, maybe 20 teams.
