yeah hey it's been awhile since i had CCD/catechism/catholic-classes but IIRC i think the stone throwing was when jesus had to drag the cross through the streets of the town and ppl lined up to heckle him and yell at him and throw shit at him as he was paraded down the streets dragging his own cross to the crucifixion site.... like the whole thing was set up like "HEY THIS GUY THINKS HE'S THE SON OF GOD.... SO WE'RE GONNA SHOW HIM AND SEE IF HIS DADDY BAILS HIM OUT" and they made a whole procession thing leading to the actual crucifixion. i think thats when the stones came into play cuz like throwing stones at a guy actually up there mid-crucifixion is kind of redundant.... "it's like spitting on a fish" - weird al

i couldn't fall back asleep at the ass-crack-of-dawn and flipped around a bunch of channels and saw a lot of the local morning news shows prominently featuring the bears win like a big story, but this "supposed to be bad" bears team is odd cuz right now the negative types are all up in arms about how yesterday's win was meaningless cuz we need to stockpile losses to get the highest draft pick possible to get the magic quarterback/player/etc, and i guess people have declared us superbad even tho we looked OK against green bay, were hanging with arizona til the cutler injury (cuz he was battling back despite the opening kickoff return TD and long PI calls setting up their 2 offensive TDs) and rah rah rah.... all of a sudden we're supposed to be the worst team in the league and SUPPOSED to go 0-16 or as close to that as possible and now any win is like "WTF ARE YOU DOING? LEARN FROM THE CUBBIES AND COMMIT TO THE LOSING.... GO SIGN EDWIN JACKSON IF YOU NEED TO SPEND $$$$" and game announcers are talking about trading forte and ppl here wanna trade gould and i still think if you can't get a for-sure top top franchise/ish QB in the draft this year you can do a hell of a lot worse than cutler (esp when you feasibly add alshon and kevin white to the attack with a cromulent eddie royal and marquess wilson sightings like last time out)

but yeah it's a really weird place where everyone ultimately ends up miserable because losing = duh, and now winning = HEY YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO LOSE but then if they keep on losing (pathetically?) it's like, duh, the bears suck and it's an awful season that nobody wants to deal with.... but if that's expected to be the default then is every win going to be questioned like the bad bears team are even bad at being bad and tanking for the #1 pick that they'll never ever get?

seriously go ask les, the bears NEVER get the #1 pick. i think one time they got to a coinflip for the #1 overall pick, but lost it and that pick was terry bradshaw and yeah history will tell you about the rest. otherwise the bears might go 4-12 or something but they'll never be the worst team in the league which definitely has its merits (esp if you ask tom waddle, who i heard on mike and mike this morning saying that not being #1-overall-pick-bad is preferable cuz "look at how far away the buccaneers and titans are.... you dont wanna get to that level"

i guess in the end it's just all misery all the time cuz everyone can't even get together and decide if they wanna see ANY winning/progress b4 the bears fully "tank" and get a top 3-5 pick, cuz you know picking #6-14 or whatever = YOU BLEW THE NEXT 5-10YRS OF YOUR FRANCHISE GOOD JOB GUYS!!!!!

idk. the team looked super happy to win yesterday and im glad they got that because i think ultimately it'll hurt even worse to blow the #1-3 pick as it would to blow the #7-14 pick. c'est la vie no?

He's just walking back his initial fawning over Fox to a reasonable distance: "REAL ASS FOOTBALL COACH" becomes "well, he doesn't understand how time works, but he sure can hire good assistants." Allows for a softer turn if/when he needs to demand the coach be fired.

He also did this with both Thibodeau and Trestman, btw.

yeah wasn't trestman/emery part of the REALLY. SMART. PEOPLE. push that went along with the GOLDEN AGE OF GMs IN CHICAGO (that dan now claims he never said in the first place) but then by year 2 when the excuses of "mel tucker will get to run his own defense" fell through and the offense wasn't as good as it was in 2013 (when it could easily score 30+ to offset the defense giving up 30/+ and it was only a few plays away from beating the packers in week 17 and making the playoffs) that's when the obvious trestman issues with dealing with people came up and then "DOCTOR DEATH" was coined/spammed and it became laughable that he was ever there and then they turned on emery lightning fast (cuz say what you will about emery, but he at least seemed to hit on his round 1/2 picks.... i mean in 2 drafts you can do a lot worse than ending up with alshon and kyle long) and next thing you know the whole organ-I-zation is fucked and all of a sudden brandon marshall is the fucking mascot of everything wrong with the bears..... i mean holy shit i've never seen nor will i likely ever again see people so quick to run a legit #1 WR out of town before he was done.

i mean shit even tho he was bad by brandon marshall standards last year you still could have done a LOT worse than you did with him.... and i mean, was he even newschool-larry-fitzgerald aka fading-#1-WR bad? he was hobbled last year and still putting out pretty good #s for a guy who you'd think was having a god-awful season from what you heard on der schnorr week in and week out.... and thus far he's looking like a bonafide #1 WR for the jets putting up #s every week like even if he can't run vertical/seam/go-that-way-forrest routes like he used to he still can go get a damn ball over the middle of the field.... and if you still had him here with the kevin white debacle and alshon rose and all that, well shit you'd be in a decent position to make a playoff run if cutler stays on the field and the defense has flashes of cromulence.

ah well c'est la vie. in the end dan is always right and dan always wins because he's on the right side of history here, revisionist or otherwise. the optics look good..... now all he has to do is run patrick kane out of town so we're allowed to cheer for the blackhawks again (cuz you know we're gonna hear about how it's still hard to cheer for an organization that stood by kane as he miraculously got away with rape, even tho nobody ever said or implied that of course)

i guess if anyone comes with a 3rd round pick for kane the hawks are supposed to move him ASAP, right? you can hide behind the salary cap hit that kaner gives you and talk about the pittsburgh penguins if you need actual sports reasons beyond "the optics" --- c'est a vie,.

Honestly, not sure he'd come back...he's in a different place now. Married man now.

Me on the other hand, will probably be here well into my 50's arguing with B.Rick's kids about Jaxon Cutler.

Man, say what you will about Bernstein, but his John Fox impression is fucking hilarious. The bit about everyone having "limbs" cracked me up.

btw, i remember last year during one of those bears all access thursday night shows someone on with zach said that "you go get mel tucker to be your defensive coordinator if you want to be bad at defense" and when zach didn't shoot him down immediately with some sort of stats to at least show that mel tucker isn't necessarily 100% as bad as most people would assume, yeah, that's when you could see the writing on the wall that the coaches/management were going to be thrown under the bus for the problems on the field and the buck was gonna stop with the highest ranking coach/management fired because you know that the bears are getting their message out through zach and when he lets someone say "you go get mel tucker to be your DC if you wanna be bad at defense" then yeah, you have one of your scapegoats.

so yeah, i guess if we ever hear people trashing coaching/management to/with/around zach and he doesnt step up with glass-half-full stats/info to defend their honor (or say "they're not as bad as people think") then we know the organization wants it out there that it's not their fault, it's these coaching/management bozos and they'll be sacrificed ASAP to get us back to where we need to go?

one more thing too.... idk if anyone here has ever seen the UK twilight-zone-esque series called "black mirror", which is a modern twilight zone type thing about twisted futures with our current technology expanded out to potentially/disturbing lengths and how it can affect people.... well in series 2 they introduced a concept where people could "block" others in real life much like they do on facebook/twitter/etc.... granted it took some ocular implant technology to be installed en masse and all that, the gist of it was that when you blocked someone IRL you'd see a greyed out silhouette covering them up in the real world and then whatever they said would be muffled into an indistinguishable even-more-distorted version of the charlie brown teacher blah blah blah talk.

and then of course if you end up on a sex offender database you're blocked out by EVERYONE and you end up red instead of grey so everyone in the world just sees a red silhouette going blahblahblah and basically avoids them beyond "whoa" type curiosity.

i'm thinking that's what bernstein and others want for KANERRRRRR going forward. we need to basically just block him out en masse and see him as a red/white blur that maybe scores a bunch of goals for the hawks cuz they're stuck with him and hey you'll take the team success, but then instead of seeing it's KANERRRR and specifically cheering him on, you just cheer on the hawks' success and any and all individual stuff is blocked out by IRL blocking so basically you just see that red silhouette going around doing whatever he has to do, but nobody has to actually see him or hear anything he has to say. perfect!

cuz yeah basically i guess it doesnt matter what happened after the initial accusation was made (even if that accusation was full of shit and basically almost 100% proven to be a moneygrab on the purported-victim's part) now it's messy and dirty and unpleasant and why should we have moral quandaries wondering if we should cheer for him? he prolly did it cuz he's definitely guilty of being patrick kane and we know who and what he is and therefore he got away with it (goddammit) and yeah let's just block him off and push him aside forever so we can feel good about ourselves for being good upstanding moral people who don't ever for a second even inadvertantly support a rape culture where rapists like kaner get away with it and face no consequences despite the fact that one night some chick probably got raped! we need to get rid of the word "accusation" and just declare people sex offenders whenever anyone says rape cuz basically this part of the culture wants people's lives to end right there on the spot once anyone says rape, and whether it's true or not? WELL WE'LL NEVER KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT.... WHAT A SHAME. how about at least the rapist never works again so even if he gets off legally he'll still suffer the consequences for at least being around a situation where someone got raped?

also i think i've heard dan say narrative like 25 times today. very narrative-y show.

Black Mirror is a fantastic show, I have yet to see the second season, and that is more or less what Team Bernstein wants.

I will be cheering loudly for Patrick Kane.

Why? Because I'm a Blackhawks fan and he's one of the best players on the Blackhawks.

Also because I value the court of law versus the court of public opinion.

Also because I hate self righteous social justice warriors and I know cheering for Kane pisses them off. So I will.

But someone should ask him WHY he so wants Patrick Kane to be guilty.

I on the other hand, want Patrick Kane to NOT be guilty of rape. Both as a biased Hawks fan, but it would also possibly meaning the woman wasn't raped.

I actually saw a good quote from someone somewhere that said the reality - the Bears have arguably the least talented roster in the NFL. This team will probably squeak out 4-5 wins - and that's coaching.

So that the Blackhawks can regain their rightful place as the #5 team -- or worse -- in town.

this is rather funny...Terry every once in a while will rail against numbers in baseball. Dan is left to defend the fact that Joe Sheehan made picks for who will win the WS
