Bryant reportedly to start in LF. La Stella at 3B. Castro at 2B.

No Schwarber? He took Cole deep to the track twice last game. He was due to hit a home run this game.

Can't really argue the move though. Cole seems like a guy LaStella can hit.

I like La Stella off the bench though. I guess we'll see.

I think you may see Schwarber in RF

I like Lastella off the bench, too. Bryant and Schwarber in the corners? Geez... let's hope Jake doesn't give up any fly balls.

I'm guessing Cogs or Jackson RF.

It is thought that Schwarber will be in RF. They've had him in RF for several of the last games of the season. PNC doesn't have a troublesome RF. LF and CF are tough though.

Coghlan is 2 for 13 off Cole

I hope you're right. Cole seems like a guy very few can hit to me. I like the move because it means better defense and LaStella is a guy who is more likely to take a walk. Schwarber is not as disciplined at the plate. The game may well come down to a walk, a bunt and a base hit. I don't agree with those who are predicting 5 runs for the Cubs. I hope they get that many, but am expecting more like 3. that may be an optimistic number. these are 2 of the best pitchers in the game. I want the Cubs to work the count as much as possible. Get deep into at bats and get the pitch count up. Maybe then, Cole loses enough on the fastball and Rizzo or Bryant take him deep after he walks a batter or two. More likely, this is going to be a game where there are very few scoring opportunities and executing a bunt, moving a runner, or putting a ball in play with a runner on 3rd decides the game.

I would have gone Cogs in left, Bryant at third, Schwarbs in right with LaStella as the pinch hit specialist and Jackson and Baez available for defensive replacement.

That's just me, though. Ten Hail Marys to Father Joe for questioning his methods.

Bryant's played 8 games in LF and Pitt is one of the tougher LF's to play? Not sure about this.

Bryant may be the fastest guy they have that has played the outfield and he has done a good job in the outfield. Schwarber has been surprisingly good in the outfield and runs much better than most guys his size. He's no liability there. Behind the plate-yes, he is a liability there.

He is probably their best OF of the guys who are in the conversation for starting (obviously Austin Jackson is better)

McCutchen is 8 for 23 of Jake. He's the only one who hits him well. Gotta make sure he bats with no one on base.

It seems like he couldn't touch Arrieta's stuff with a canoe paddle the last few starts.

Good call.

6 of those hits were against the original Arrieta (2013 or earlier)

Yea Im not sure how much defense is going to matter with Arrietta pitching. I guess if there are some hard hit gappers that Schwarber fucks up we'll look back and say they should've put someone else in but I don't think Arrietta will give up enough hard contact that it'll matter who is flagging down fly balls.

We got this. No Cubs-Sox banter. We got it. Arrieta is as good as it gets. Bryant is a young stud. Rizzo is probably gay, but we don't care. The future is now. We are good.

On vacation this week so of course I'm up at 600 pacing back and forth for a game that doesn't start for another 13 hours.
