That list is shit, she's as good or better than everyone other than Doug Glanville.

a lot of these posts complaining this hard about broadcasters looks like something you'd see in a mental ward. "I want to listen to the broadcast! AUGH! I HATE THIS GUY! I HATE HER! HE SUCKS! OH, SHE SUCKS!" so, turn off the sound? "NO! GOTTA LISTEN TO THE BROADCAST! SHE SUCKS! OH, HE SUCKS! THIS GUY? SUCKS. SUCKS!" *mute* "TURN IT BACK ON! OH, JEEZ THIS GUY SUCKS! AAAGGHGHGGHGHH!!"

If she was doing a womens softball game and talked about "slowing it all down" likes she does 15 times a game...and she makes Kruk and guy whose balls have been put in storage, scared to make a mistake and just shuts up. Occasionally wakes up and says something.

I believe Kruk's balls have been put in a medical waste dumping facility.

Archer was better than the others. He's pretty well spoken for a young guy. Sure he had a few umms in there, but the content was solid.

It's not that different with any of the color guys. I have noticed terrible football color analysis. For instance, I think it was Simms who compared Mike Vick to Big Ben and said Ben gets rid of the ball faster. Every time I have watched the Steelers, Ben holds onto the ball longer than anyone and tries to make a play in the pocket. Gruden said more dumb stuff last MNF game than I care to remember.

The national color guys often show they have no knowledge of the teams playing the game. It is obvious they have not watched the teams to have a good perspective on their play.

in the spirit of irony i find it =] that julie dicaro hasn't blocked me on twitter yet, cuz as you and your radio BFFs know blocking me is par for the course of a quality life. tho in fairness i think i only gave her a "SOMEONE BANG THE IRONY GONG" when she was talking about how the pro-kane ppl are speculating on a case that they really know nothing about!

There is no reason to have a woman analyst other than to say you have a woman analyst. Analysts should be former players and coaches.

This would seem to fall in line with "coaches should be former players".

No, they are two different situations.

A coach has a wide array of qualities that could make them a good coach, as they were so many different hats. They also have an army of assistant coaches and support.

An analyst is there to do one specific job - analyze a game... and that should include analysis of player/coach mindsets, what they are thinking in different situations, and what happens behind the scenes. No one has that perspective except a former coach or player.

Except that every coach and player is different and you cannot possibly know what is in the mind of another.

An analyst is mostly there to analyze the technical side of the game. The tangibles. And she has done that very well.

They tend to give those jobs to ex-ballplayers and people, you know, "in broadcasting."

The color commentators? No, they are typically ex-players. Not always, but typically. Maybe you're thinking of the play-by-play guy.

Why not just hire a homeless person in each town each week? It's not terribly removed from the "merit" system utilized to bring her into the booth.

I happen to not want to hear a female voice during most sporting events; it's just a preference, no different from I prefer broccoli over cauliflower; nothing more to it than that. I do, for example, like Mary Carillo during tennis on NBC. so it's not like I have some blanket anti-broad thing.

I haven't heard much of her work but to me she sounds like someone broadcasting a game for NPR.
