FUCK, why are you talking about how expensive day care is?!? How long can day care be put off? Shit's making me nervous.

Remember that old Mike & Mike joke, what's the difference between a nanny and an au pair?

Problem is most of those places are booked a year in advance. My buddy's wife owns a daycare in the city. I asked her when we should (have) start looking for daycare. She said you should look as soon as you know you're pregnant.

I only just was made aware that there are actual churches that will ask to see your W-2s. And that many will forward them.

If you get pregnant Greg, we have bigger problems.

Start looking now, buddy.

There are at-home day cares that are a bit cheaper, but as Greg said, I think those have looong wait lists, in addition to the fact that it's hard to know what their standards are (though I'm sure they're regulated). My wife wouldn't go for the at-home thing.

Getting into heaven is. Having a church to worship at isn't.

That is literally more than most mortgage payments. Crazy.

Yep. It's significantly more than mine as well.

I'm sorry, but this is probably the exact opposite of what Warren would have wanted her readers to take from her book. Count how many times she has shamed families for "building their lifestyles" in an extravagant way versus how many times she has lamented the high costs of housing, healthcare, daycare, education, et al., such that both parents need to work. If she has a problem with people spending too much money, her problem is with social forces requiring it and credit card companies enabling it. Yours seems to be with the people themselves. And you say you don't like Dan Bernstein!

Both spouses can look for a job but what if one spouse just doesn't want to?

I have a friend, married with a 3yo, he's been living with his parents most of the child's life. His income was enough to support him and his wife but once the baby came along that obviously added a huge set of additional expenses. His wife worked part time before the baby and quit altogether once the kid was born. Since then he's pushed her to find work so they could save up some money and get their own place but she wants nothing to do with work. Its hard to argue that having a stay-at-home parent hasn't been beneficial, the kid's verbal and social skills are astounding for a 3yo, but its also hard to argue that the family wouldn't be benefitted by having another income.

Ikr. It was actually very well written. The big takeaway for me was that logic says two income families are more financially secure. But in reality they are not. Don't know anyone like that.Nope.

Oh, I got no qualms with Les.

Actually, I should start listening. Last night would have been perfect - baby was up from 12 - 2.

A poster called leashyourkids had a child? The english language doesn't provide a word to accommodate the accurate description of my disappointment.

Back to bitching about this show, though:

I got a furious call from 2015 demanding it's constant use of "crib" to refer to one's dwelling back.

back in my early feeding days I used to watch some odd looking Jewish conservative guy named Nachman. I never found out his first name. I heard he died...but like beloved Cub fan Eddie Vedder, I'm still alive.

This may be the applicable verse for you GD.

Is something wrong
She said
Of course there is
You're still alive
She said
Oh do I deserve to be?
And is that the question? Oh
And if so, if so
Who answers?
Who answers?
