During my travels in the south my family indulged me by going to the town that is Woodbury. It is a nice place with an obviously picturesque Main Street. It was really only a few minutes out of our way and a nice drive in the Georgia countryside. I would say it was worth a 30 minute visit if you are in Atlanta with some time to kill.

Just finished up the first 5 seasons this weekend.
Took all of 5 weeks to nail the whole damn thing.
At first wife was all meh about it but then she was WIGGING OUT about watching more Walking Dead. She bloody loves it.
Only thing that sucks is now we're on a week waiting period and that blows.

I was thinking about the burning plan also.

But, if I forget that, pretty good episode. Thorough enjoyment.

Great opener. I enjoyed the switch back and forth from black and white to color representing past and current. I think they
did a marathon a while back in which all of the episodes were in black and white. I preferred that in a lot of cases because
then it seems more like the comic books and I like the grittiness of that medium, but that is just me.

same with me...wanna make out?

I didn't feel that I missed much moving forward by not having seen season 5. Sure I have no idea how they got to Arlington, but most everything I needed to know was explained in great detail in the season 6 premiere. It is remarkable how the production quality increases each year. They probably couldn't afford to pay that many extras to play a zombie horde of that size in season 1.

95% of that herd was CGI.

Well, the one producer guy said they had 1000 fully costumed zombies for that set...but most looks at it were definitely CGI.

Also, Alexandria...not Arlington.

The pit looked CGI

The parade looked like actors.

I think the close up shots were all real but at the end when they pulled out with the helicopter it definitely morphed into CGI. They have really been able to do
some amazing things with the CGI and costumes based on the what I assumed is a fairly large budget.

Well contained? Did you happen to notice the semi truck falling off the side of the mountain and all the zombies stating to exit the quarry in the opening minutes of the episode??????

You don't have this confused with Last Man on Earth again, do you?

Fully understanding I’m in the minority, I just do not get this show at all.

I gave it a try last year….enjoyed the first episode, but felt it was a little long-winded. Watch about 3 more episodes and just didn’t get it. A few weeks later my son was watching an episode from the 2nd season and it was like I hadn’t missed anything. 60 minutes of bloody, gory dead people.

I’ll continue to pass on the Walking Dead.

LOVED the episode, what a fantastic start.

Glad to see some "new" characters from the comics show up this season. Great casting of Heath, looks just like him.

Looks like we will get to meet the Wolves sooner rather than later. I assume its them blowing the horn.

I've seen some people here and elsewhere mention the idea of just lighting all the zombies on fire in the quarry. I would love to hear how that is possible. I don't think it is.

For starters, there's no easy access to gas. And how much gas do you think you would need to light 10,000 zombies on fire?

Also, as we know, fire doesn't kill zombies. So the zombies would have to burn long and hot enough for all their muscles and ligaments to burn away or for their skulls to burn away so the brain can be burned. Brings us back to issue 1.

Also, how would you control the fire? Those zombies are being held in by semi trucks. What happens to those trucks when the quarry is lit on fire? I'm guessing they melt or burn to the ground thereby opening up the gate for the zombies to get out. I doubt they would all be destroyed by the fire before the trucks were compromised.

So, in summation, use your fucking heads people!

Seems to me you could do a 300 defense and make it so they can only exit one by one and just keep chopping away. Or go with some other controlled release

I enjoyed the episode overall. I just had a few questions. Was the part showing the girl in the beginning showing how the girl got to the
Alexandria compound or was it showing her getting back there after leaving and trying to make it on her own? She didn't have any family
at the compound correct? Also it appeared to be pretty obvious foreshadowing when the one wolf took the gun on his way out of Alexandria.
I was happy that there was some focus away from Rick for once.
