With Strop's struggles against the Cards, brining him in there is a tough pill to swallow.

Strop is fine. Cards just have his number this year.

Bringing in Strop I can see the problem with, but what are the other moves you guys think he should've made?

You don't bring in the one guy who's had his assed kicked all year by the Cardinals.

Maddon didn't lose this game, and its a ridiculous statement.

Cubs knew they lost once Ross was in the lineup.

Todays balls and strikes were beyond terrible...
Now they were bad for both teams. And umpires don't hit 8th inning 2 run homers. So that's not what I'm saying...
But good god was that guy terrible.

The gameplan to swing early in counts didn't work very well..

He brought him in a game where they were already down 2-0 in the bottom of the 8th. With Rosenthal pitching in the 9th, chances to get even or take a lead were slim. I think Maddon just wanted Strop to get a degree of confidence out of the appearance and it blew up on them instead. But I think I understand the decision.

Fitting that it would end on a called 3rd strike.

Hats off to Lackey. The guy pitched his ass off tonight. Hopefully the bats wake up tomorrow and Hendricks can continue his late season success.

Rizzo, Bryant Castro with another goose egg. Can they break their post season curse?

But RPB will tell you they smashed and mashed like Babe Ruth and were production machines.

That was a terrible called 3rd. Again, umps don't hit 2 run homers but wow.

Yup. Tomorrow is a game that has to be won, but if they can pull it off, they're in good shape. Offense has to wake the fuck up, but it'll be a different day.

You don't play Schwarber in RF. I think a regular RF catches that double in the 1st inning that led to their run. You can't start Ross in a playoff game, no matter what. Outs are to precious, can't have 2 automatic outs in the lineup to start. Lester shouldn't have come out for the 8th. Strop shouldn't have been brought in. C.C should have been pinch hit for.

Tough to swing at those off the plate called strikes. Fuck. St Louis recognized it and worked the left side of the plate all night.

Gotta get Game 2.

Worried about Hendricks.

The offense needs to come through tomorrow.

No, it was a good pitch on the black, at the knees. Bryant should be protecting there with 2 strikes. But he had 199K's on the season and was facing a top closer, so a K to end it is not a shock. Tomorrow is another day. Hopefully a better result tomorrow. Neither team was going to sweep the series.

+1 Beyond horrible. Molina used it as a weapon the couple times we had a rally.
