The ump was not good, but the Cubs did not lose because of the ump. The Cubs lost because they didn't get a goddamn hit for five innings and then grounded into a double play anyway.

Lackey got away with his mistake and Lester didn't. Cards earned the victory tonight.

Are the Cards better off playing that rookie Thom or whatever his name is over a limp Holliday? That HR was a monster shot.

It worked for them tonight. I was shocked he got to that ball off of Bryant's bat in the 1st. Then on top of that, he drives in the go ahead run his first time up. Hopefully if he remains out there in the field we can take advantage of it.

Your way over the top on everything act is very old and lame at this point.

Like Rizzo and Bryant you used to produce.

I hope all of you find your stroke again

He brought him in a game where they were already down 2-0 in the bottom of the 8th. With Rosenthal pitching in the 9th, chances to get even or take a lead were slim. I think Maddon just wanted Strop to get a degree of confidence out of the appearance and it blew up on them instead. But I think I understand the decision.

Great call, Steve.

"Pedro, I know you've sucked all year against this 100 win team, the team we have to beat to advance, but I'm going to put you in just to make sure you really aren't good against them."

Yea, I totally understand that decision. So the Cubs have basically wasted a roster spot.

I'm hoping your response is due to yet another stroke.

At least you admit that Rizzo and Bryant and Castro haven't broken the post-season curse! And apparently you're having a post-season curse as well!

Good luck and BE.CAREFUL!!!!

Brought him in to get confidence? Against a team that has destroyed him with a hostile crowd in a game where the morale is already low and there's a guy on base?

Don't ever do motivational speaking, dude.

The move didn't matter either way.

Weren't the Cubs getting good strikes calls on outside pitches the other night? It averages out.

Cubs didn't do anything to deserve to win this game. Just got beat. Pretty simple. It was pretty uneventful actually.
I got a tingly feeling for 1.8 seconds when Fowler hit that long fly out....otherwise.....meh.

HUGE game tomorrow.
Bats HAVE to wake up. That starts by extending at bats. WAY too many short ABs tonight.

How'd the pitches look from your seat several hundred feet away?

I'm several hundred miles away. Some looked a little wide.

A camera above home plate can accurately view if a ball caught any plate..it should be a buzzer on strikes in the umps pocket.

Looking (WAY) ahead to something that may not even matter....

No start times announced for games 3 or 4, but the game 5 start time between two teams with some of the biggest followings in baseball would be 3:30 on a Thursday?

WTF MLB??

I would be shocked if that weren't subject to change, depending on how many games were that day.

That's undoubtedly coming. You may not like it when it gets here though. It's going to change the entire feel of the game. I think the only thing holding it back is that it hasn't been perfected. Eric Byrnes is working on a system.

Hope not. I'm more of a purist. Ill deal with missed balls and strikes calls. #NotinmyMLB
