#TrevorCahillFactz: in the past six years trevor cahill has been an all star and received cy young votes and also has been DFA'd, and had ERAs ranging from 2.97 to 5.61, but his FIP in the last six years has never gone below 3.85 or above 4.26

No. He's the closer. Let Rondon have a clean slate to work with. If Cahill had let a couple runners on, it changes things dramatically.

it's a funny game. They had a guy with a 2.43 ERA going against Hendricks, who a month ago was not a lock to be on the playoff roster and the Cubs win. A split was outstanding. With the momentum and Arrieta going in game 3, things are looking pretty good.

ahh well idk if anyone ever reads my posts but i had been saying that jaime garcia's magic pixie dust had worn off and for the last month or two he was having a lot of ~6IP/4ER type of games. he was a solid/legit sub-2 ERA from his late start to the season until a few starts after his return from the 2nd DL trip, but over the last 4-6+ weeks he had been eminently mortal and not that magic unhittable pitcher that he was for like most of his 2015 season.

the cubs did a really good job to get those runs early and get a cushion cuz i don't fancy this team dealing with adversity yet. yes i know technically every team in baseball is better when they're frontrunning, but this cubs team seems more prone to being shell shocked and going through the motions when things go off-script (you know, the script where they win the world series) and last night i give it like 75/25 lackey doing his thing and the cubs helping him along by being shell shocked like OMFG WE'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LOSING!

even tho they're still playing with house money (meaning that from this point on if they lose most cubs fans are gonna be like "hey we werent even supposed to make the playoffs this year so we're still ahead of schedule and it was a great year) --- i think the cubs have to realize that no future postseason berths are guaranteed and they better make hay this year, especially if the teams coming out of the division series end up being houston, texas, the mets, and the cubs. if those 4 advance and the cubs DON'T win the world series then they're goddamn chokers and fulls cuz i'm telling you that if the blue jays / dodgers / royals / cardinals all get trounced out of the playoffs in the 5 game series then this might be the best chance for the cubs to win a world series, cuz out of all of those teams the one team that really scares you is the mets (pitching for days, situational hitting a-gogo with cespedes like .300/17/44 in 54 games for the mets) because yeah even tho the dodgers have a 1-2 of greinke kershaw, the mets have a 1-4 of degrom syndergaard harvey matz. that's the best in baseball IMO (yes, even better than the natinals) and especially if matz is "on" and over this sore back.... man, they have the deepest/bestest rotation in the bigs cuz you could argue that harvey should be your game 1 ace (tho you'd be wrong cuz degrom last night str8up went out and BEAT KERSHAW) and matz has had some injury problems since getting promoted to the bigs, but whenever he's on the mound he's fucking awesome.... small sample size but another guy around 2.00-2.25/1.05 with right around 1K/IP.

and i still think syndergaard could end up being the best pitcher on the mets even with degrom going off like he is. if degrom didnt have his mini-meltdown later in the season (2.2IP 6ER on aug 24th, 5IP 6ER on sept 15, the latter warranting a skipped start.... and he was gonna have his start skipped the last sunday of the season but matz's achy back got him to start and IMHO that was better for the mets cuz it kept him in rotation (with friday being his normal day to pitch in a 5 day rotation) and ask JORR, degrom can fucking pitch.

yeah TLDR and tangential, but this was a HUGE win for the cubs cuz thy need arrieta to take game 3 by default and then they need to get out of this series cuz if texas/houston/mets make it out..... man the cubs owned the mets in the regular season and hit degrom/syndergaard with regularity (harvey gave them problems IIRC) and if they can take it to the mets pitching like they did in the regular season (when ppl laughed at me for saying BEWARE THE METS! THEY CAN PITCH TO THE CUBS FOR YEARS TO COME! and then degrom goes like 6IP 4ER, syndergaard 5IP 3ER and ppl are like lol whatever sini) man, the cubs can beat houston/texas..... after keuchel houston's pitching aint shit and while their offense is really nice, man, this prolly will be the easiest year to win a title if your DS's are houston/texas and mets/cubs...... and the cubs BETTER win a fucking championship if that happens.

If the Cub make it past St. Louis it's still going to be a tall order whoever they play. If it's the Mets you figure their young stud pitchers are going lights out and if it Los Dodgers, well it's gotta be because Kershaw figured things out. Either way we won't have the better staff, so I can't agree this would be the easiest year to "get er' done."

Actually I don't recall seeing such a post about Garcia by you. Where would that post be found? I know I had mentioned in a post that his ERA trended up in Sept./Oct. but was still under 3.50. A lot of people discussed the pitchers, but I don't recall you contributing an opinion. Where was this post you allude to?
