who the fuck bets on these games? isn't it enough to watch them on their own merits, especially with the playoff picture shaping up a better and better looking roadmap for the cubs to win the fucking world series?

it would be so inherently cub to make it to the world series and find a way to lose to the rangers tho..... i mean at least the astros you can say "ok correa and springer are legit and rasmus has been a legit beltranesque playoff superstar to start the 2015 playoffs and keuchel is quietly up there in the top tier of pitchers if not out in front of the 2nd tier of top pitching" but if the rangers somehow make the world series and you fall victim to 2015 world series MVP roughned odor [you now remember that jurickson profar exists and was the big ballyhooed/sexy top draft pick for that position that roughned odor is filling] then yeah.... sheeeit. you might have to wear sunglasses in order to prevent being blinded by the glare off of JORR'S 64 million dollar [shit eating] grin =P

lol biggie, you really nailed it there.

i have to admit that even tho i'm an expos fan [insert your derision here] i was indeed born and raised a cubs fan and doing the important job of giving play by play updates to a friend in the car (cuz of course i had the 720 stream going cuz that's just how i roll, pillsbury) and i might have unfathomably let out a little "yes!" when the soler HR went out.

so perhaps double M (matches malone) was wrong about me.... instead of trying to get me to fess up to a little cub hatred (cuz it's evidently like the 2004 cubs: * MCGRIFF / SOSA / ALOU JERSEYS HANGING THERE * ARE YOU IN OR OUT?) he was looking at it the wrong way and should have went all luke skywalker like "sini, i know there's a little cub still inside you.... i can feel it!" cuz i have no idea where that came from other than actively cheering on the apocalypse, which the cubpacalypse will invariably lead to.

and btw, the arrieta game is an automatic W right? the cubs won't press because they know if they score they win, and they got their shutout quota met on friday, riiiiiight?

so enough of this passe cardinals BS.... who do you want to face in the world series? LIGHT EM UP!

Nobody was really an expo fan that didnt live in CAH-NADAH. Outside of the teams that milked the expo organization. You can respect them and go back in history and be ultra impressed with the talent they produced. You might even like the uniforms, as I am aware you thrive in the retro world, but you didnt watch Expo games as a kid and when you did, you feel asleep by the 4th inning as you didnt even know if the sound was one.

"Its like a Mausoleum in here!" Harry!

This will not be as smooth as Arrieta's last few games, IMO. Not saying the Cubs will lose - I just don't see another complete game shutout. The Cardinals will find a way to manufacture a couple runs.

hey, when i got into baseball in 2001 i saw vladimir guerrero bat and said "i'm going with that guy" and i cheered for the expos.... of course the team was taken away from me after 2004 (which was a weird year cuz you know the end was nigh and they werent doing shit and i kind of took on the angels too for vlad and they were my default team from 04-09 but then when vlad did texas/baltimore it was just exclusively rooting for vlad) and uhhhh yeah.

i mean it's like saying when i got into soccer and fell in love with arsenal that i'm not really an arsenal fan cuz i was born in chicago and the chicago fire are there and even tho i dont know a goddamn thing about the fire i'm REALLY a chicago fire fan cuz they have "chicago" in their name and i'm from here and arsenal is in london and "what part of the N5 are you from, sini?"

but then again since you're born and bred and of course raised a cubs fan and you've got your season tickets these days, i can see to how you fandom is something deeper than "the team you cheer for beyond all others without a shadow of a doubt" cuz it's ingrained in you, and while the expos aren't 100% ingrained in me, it ended up providing me with a blueprint for my arsenal fandom, which is pretty much where all of that expos fandom really ended up.....;

unless that glitch during the HR ends up becoming an epidemic in my psyche and next thing you know i'm out there ironically liking go cubs go and i start referring to the cubs as "we" and next thing you know i'm waking up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat out of a nightmare yelling out DAMN YOU JORR!!!!! like ~10-20% of the cubs fans here quite possibly do =P

TLDR = i get where you're coming from re: REAL EXPOS FANS ARE ALL IN CANADA, cuz to you fandom is something that's akin to a birthright.... but to me it's just like, when you watch the sport who's the team you're going for? and since you're "authentic" in a way i can never be with the expos or arsenal, well, it's easy to sit there and look down on a "plastic" like me cuz i eschewed that cubbie birthright to do my own thing, which i'm sure the armchair psychologists of the board would simply dismiss as some futile rebellion and "LOOK AT ME I'M SO PUNK ROCK AND UNIQUE AND THUSLY COOL! VIVE LES EXPOS!" --- the interesting thing would be to see how much shit i get if i tried to reclaim that cubbie birthright, eh? i guarantee i'd get more shit than when i say i'm an expos fan =P

Not unthinkable that some American kids here and there declared themselves Expos fans because they were in video games and their logo was idiosyncratic. Took me years to realize it was an M.

Cardinals-Cubs Game 3 will be played at 5:00 p.m.CT if both the Royals-Astros and Jays-Rangers series are still being played.
If one of those series is over, then Cardinals-Cubs will play at 3:30 CT.

Royals-Astros are playing right now series is tied - so there will be a game Monday regardless of the out come.

Jays-Rangers play tonight at 7 if the Rangers win at home the game is at 3:30 if Jays win the game is at 5.

Remember what Lee Elia said:

"F*ck those f*ckin' fans who come out here and say they're Cub fans that are supposed to be behind you, rippin' every f*ckin' thing you do. I'll tell you one f*ckin' thing, I hope we get f*ckin' hotter than sh*t, just to stuff it up them 3,000 f*ckin' people that show up every f*ckin' day, because if they're the real Chicago f*ckin' fans, they can kiss my f*ckin' ass right downtown and PRINT IT.

It is pretty ridiculous that there are World Series games scheduled in fucking NOVEMBER but they can't get the A/NLDS schedule out more than 12-18 hours in advance.

frank remember one thing in reagrd to starting times.....

FOLLOW THE MONEY...the networks call the shots.

That said 5-0 Jays bottom 6 looks like a 5:07 start barring a Texas comeback.

And you would think the networks would want any playoffs game involving the Cubs and/or Cardinals to be played in primetime.

I think that's a real Cubcentric viewpoint. I'm pretty sure that nationally, baseball fans aren't as enamored with the "rivalry" as Cub nation seems to believe. Everyone has seen the Cardinals get the better of the Cubs a hundred times. The scheduling of these games should leave little doubt that Dodgers/Mets is the marquee matchup, not this hammer/nail "rivalry".

That is why I said "and/or." I would think that the Cubs AND Cardinals are both a pretty big national draw regardless of the game's circumstances. I think its kinda like the Bears in that regard where their ratings are really good in primetime games even if the team is bad. I would think a playoff game that has the Cubs or Cards in it would be a preferred primetime game for the network.

Again, I don't thing baseball fans across the country are quite as interested in that "rivalry" as Midwesterners seem to believe. If anything, the Cubs are the story simply because they haven't won in so long and they appear to have a good chance to do so. I could see their games getting the Cadillac treatment because of that. But even so, the TV execs are telling you that the Cub story doesn't outweigh the two major markets on the coasts.
