So, anybody psyched for the return of the most somber and suicide-inducing series in TV history?

Me too.

Big changes this year. And, from what I've read so far, for the better. Some say the first episode is the best one yet and eps 2 and 3 are supposed to be very good as well.

Feel like it's been a long damn time since Season 1 ended, having a hard time remembering much of the plot. Maybe need to read a recap, but I'll definitely stay with this.

Count me in. I should watch the last two episodes from last year to try to remember exactly what was going on. They started
losing me towards the end of the first season but I know they left a lot of storylines open at the end. This is one that is on
a short leash with me.

Just remember that you want the mother/ex-wife to die a brutal and horrible and awful death.

In - not exactly uplifting shit, but I was hooked on the whole 1st season, when does #2 start?

The first season was garbage. I'm pretty optimistic that this one will be better.

Is that because they have 12 seconds of sex in the 45 second hook. LOL

Dont get me wrong, I am going to watch, but as that show goes and a Sunday nigh NFL goes, could easily see me switching.

When do we get Silicon Valley back!

Because it looks like there is a lot of action (as opposed to season 1)

IN. But between it, Gotham, and Narcos, I fear I will be juggling too many TV shows. I am glad House of Cards and Game of Thrones are both dark right now.

So, the black baby?

Is that the kid from the asian chick who was prego with the black guy who was the healer dude? Am I just assuming this or did this transition take place last season and I missed it???

Yeah, that's the baby of Holy Wayne and the Asian chick Tommy was taking care of.

Watched the season finale from last year yesterday and caught the season two premiere this morning. Very strange opening scene but
I found it interesting at the same time. I enjoyed the introduction of the new characters and each kind of has their own quirks to add
to the storyline. I like that they are going to flash back and get us up to speed to the opening episode. Took me a few minutes but
I realized the fortune teller guy was the son Eddie from Family Matters. Definitely one of the stranger shows on television right now.

I watched the first episode of Season 2 last night and had to stop the DVR after about 15 minutes because I was convinced I was watching the wrong show.
I get setting up the back story but I hope this doesn't obsess with that like the first half of True Detective 2.

The line about the baby was pretty hilarious.

Really liked it.

Got me invested in a whole new set of characters before ever introducing familiar faces.

Will Evie and friends now be "departed"? And will the arrivals of Matt and Kevin be blamed?

I might be confused, but I don't see how that would work. Is there going to be another Departure? Isn't this the present tense?

Watched the first episode last night. First 5-10 minutes were awful television, the rest was awesome. I expect a very good season.

I don't necessarily disagree but it still begs the question "what does it mean"?

I read an article where the writer's room was trying to determine "what should we put on the 'previously on'" and decided "why not go real far back."

An interesting take that I heard was what if the pregnant woman was supposed to die in the cave but didn't. God eventually caught up with that but then the baby shouldn't have been born. So, the descendents of that child eventually had to pay the piper as it were and they were all taken.

Pretty far-fetched - why would God wait so long to even the scales - but I thought it was kind of interesting.

That is an interesting theory. I figured they would possibly explain or hint at what the opening was later on in the season, but they probably won't. It still seems, kind of like Rectify, that this is a show where the plot seems very secondary, which is fine with me. I loved the first season. I haven't read any reviews yet, but I'm going to tonight since I still don't have a firm grasp on exactly what I watched last night.

You're right, though. They've been pretty clear that they're never going to explain why this happened.

So, it probably means nothing. #Lost

I mean will their disappearance be considered a departure by the people of Miracle.

I think they probably got swallowed up by telephone earthquake.

Also, the descendents would have to be whole families so it would have to be some numbers deal which is less compelling.

I never saw Lost, but at least for this show, I think this is for the better.

BTW, Doc, where do you usually go for reviews or articles on TV shows? I'll read Alan Sepinwall's review of any show I like, but after that I have to really be into a TV show to google further reviews/articles.

I trust Sepinwall. His tastes are usually in line with mine.

I also listen to Bald Move network podcasts. I enjoy their take and they also pull together many other reviews to summarize.

Tom & Lorenzo did great Mad Men reviews and they take on some other shows every once in a while like Fargo, I think.

The True Detectuve 2 assholes shoud sit in on the next Leftovers smoke session!

Usually not a fan of the recap episode in episode 2 of episode 1, but it was OK. I assumed the baby was from the soothsayer/asian chick via the brother, didnt need that confirmation, could have left us hanging on that one, good finish!

I liked that episode 2 took care of all the stuff between the end of last year up through the premiere.

And the ending was  .
