I wasn't chirping.

I just found it odd that after a terrible inning, he was too sick to continue.

I wasn't speaking specifically about you. It was more of a response to Juiced and just what I consider just good advice. There will be plenty of time to shit on the Cardinals after you close them out.

Arrietta could pitch great and lose 1-0 like those other poor souls whose HOF careers were shot in the ass for lack of run support.

At the risk of starting this argument for the millionth time, I will say it's somewhat amusing that so many people who otherwise say a pitcher doesn't win games, are counting on Arrieta to win this one.

I'm 99% sure Arrieta's streak of complete dominance ends tonight. I think the Cubs position players realize they can't continue to rely on him to give up no runs ever - at least I hope they do.

But if you listened to some media and fans (and not just Cubs fans), you'd think this thing was an automatic win and they may as well not even play the game. The superstitious side of me is getting very nervous.

I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I think this is a misrepresentation of the disagreement.

Agreed. He has to have a bad outing at some point.

Who the hell says pitchers don't win games? Of course they do. I think the argument is that the W-L stat for pitchers is stupid. Which it is. But nobody thinks pitchers don't win games.

Huh? If pitchers can win and lose games why do you take issue with giving them responsibility for such?

Well, if Arrieta shuts it down tonight, I hardly think there will be anyone who takes issue with the "W" next to his name.

Right. But I think it's misrepresenting it because they will be celebrating a CG shutout. The W just happens to be a positive result from the shutout. This isn't really a position I'd advocate though. I fall somewhere between you and IMU on how you view pitching.

Which do you prefer? Losing the game against Pittsburgh or a slow beating at the hands of the hated Cardinals?

I prefer the Cubs beating both. But a sweep of the Cardinals was not a realistic expectation. Frankly, I thought there was a solid chance the Cubs would lose the first 2, then rally in 3 &4 behind Arrieta in game 3 and the offense getting to Wacha and Lynn. But the win in game 2 was a nice surprise. Now, I'm hoping they can clinch tomorrow when I'll be in the Left-Center field bleachers watching.

He got it out of his system.

Arrieta won't allow another run the rest of the postseason.

Getting personal and mean and using profanity isn't healthy for your claim of intellectual superiority.

That's just within the last week. Have you ever heard the term "common denominator"?

To be fair... bigfans was not real, baby mac is a yogurt head who argues with everybody and your sports posts are outrageous.
