I know I was rooting for the Cubs to win the World Series but I thought I'd start rooting against them at some point and it just hasn't happened.

The Cubs/Sox rivalry, considering they didn't even play most of the time, was built on both teams not winning the World Series for a long time, and then one team not winning the World Series for a long time while the other did.

There really isn't a reason for one to exist at all if the Cubs win one.

I can't tell who hates the Cubs the most anymore between JORR, pittmike and pasta.

i know, right? he's stealing my bit!

it's only a certain type of cubs fan tho, cuz when you hang with the long-suffering beer-n-shot grandfathers of the world (the realists anyways) they're cool.... hell even JORR is giving it up for jimmypasta here, and in my own family the baseball uncle and my grandpa are good cubs fans. still bitter step-grandma blocked me from getting cubs-gpa out for that friday cubs/cards game (when there was a looming threat of a work stoppage and it was resolved at the last second, so wrigley was packed with cardinals fans who overpowered the cubs fans) and i knew ppl who worked at the nisei lounge at the time and was gonna show him how a day at the ol ballpark was done.... but alas, no!

now the yuppie fratboys of the world, man, fuck them all. i'll give you that i used to be a bit muggy with my expos jerseys and all but still just all the shit i caught from dumbasses on the "hey you're different than us! FUCK YOU!!!!" tip = yep, fuck em all i say.

tho last time i wore a different jersey to a cubs game it was an arsenal jersey after they won their first FA cup in 2014 and some dude stopped and started singing arsenal songs and i had to pretend like i know the words. and there was even a dude in a van persie netherlands kit in the section in front of me so when he oscillated at one point and fixated on me like "holy shit is that an arsenal kit?" i got to give him the nod and the shit eating grin.

btw with my cubs fan grandpa he went like this..... one day after a brunch him (5'7" / 160 or something... older ofc) and my dad (6'4" /240 or something nad prolly still mid-50s) started matching each other on shots for awhile. so when they finished my dad comes stumbling out with this egregious drunk walk and stumbles and bumbles into the back of the then-windstar and proceeds to pass out in the back seat almost immediately.

a few mins later my grandpa walks out with my grandpa "cooler than the other side of the pillow" and walks up to me and says all matter-of-factly "jimmy, 35% of all accidents are caused by drunk drivers....... watch out for the sober ones!" and proceeds to take grandma to the car and drive off like it didnt even faze him.

that's the kind of cubs fan i can roll with, and as he now has recently entered the nursing home portion of his life i really wouldn't mind him and the uncle getting to see a title, even if it does mean the end of the world.
