In an honest assessment, do you think this team as constructed are better than the Cardinals? Regardless of the outcome of this series?

Without Carlos Martinez and a healthy Molina, the Cubs are better

With those guys the Cards are.

Also Cards are probably better built for 162 and Cubs more for a short series

idk if top to bottom in terms of every player ranked against their respective counterpart if the cubs have a deeper roster, but i thbink the cubs' top playrs are noticeably better than the cardinals top players.... the cubs have a top-end advantage right now and it shows. and guys like dexter fowler are doing more than a randall grichuk too, for example.

piscotty is a really nice young player.... heyward is prolly underrated since his offense hasn't caught up to his defense, but beyond thati mean who on the cardinals is up there to offset the rizzos/bryants/schwarbers/solers?

They're definitely better today and in this series. At full strength, probably not.

Also with Wainwright not being able to start games.

At full strength, the Cubs have the better position players and the Cards have the better pitching staff.

And there is no doubt who has the better manager (though Oquendo is awesome at 3B)

No the best team usually wins but not always. Managers matter sometimes but not always. JORR is wrong not often but always.

It doesn't matter.

The randomness of the playoffs mean that the Cardinals have been just as successful as the Cubs.
