True, BF...unless you're Dusty Baker. Then you have to go to Dave Veres.

Not trolling...was just thinking about this earlier....is there any confidence left for Lester? Is he a bullpen option in a must win game? He certainly didn't impress in game 1, but is a seasoned veteran.

I guess I forgot it was a one run game when Wainwright came in because I think it took one pitch for that to change.

I thought he was pretty good in Game 1. Had a lot of 3-2 counts, but came out of them pretty good. Only gave up 3 runs in 7 innings. That's better than Arrieta.

He was good in game 1. Maddon left him in too long.

Wow, if Lester isn't your Game 5 starter, then you just wasted a whole lot of money. He was signed for exactly these kinds of situations. Agree with RPB, he was fine in Game 1.

One of the bigger criticisms of the Plan is that it was banking on so many unpredictable prospects to come through. Any objective Cubs fan recognizes that these guys won't all be super stars, but it really is amazing how many of them are providing legit contributions at different points in the season and playoffs.

Most players can provide legit contributions at different points in a season. The flip side is, of course, that they have provided little at different points in the year as well.

The gun from RF today to keep it tied and end an inning was the key to todays game.

A tall and lanky teenager who arrived in the DR in the winter of 2011, outfielder Jorge Soler is one of the most promising Cuban prospects in baseball today. He's already shown off his tools in Dominica, and while he looks like a centerfielder right now, physically, his height and young age make it quite possible he'll be a corner fielder when he finishes growing. And if his loopy power swing develops as expected, he'll hit like one too.

He's already showing signs of MLB videogame level power at the plate, and his very strong arm is certainly real. His iffy contact skills and lack of patience at the plate, though, are equally clear indicators that he's still a rather rough gem. One bonus for his future home in The Show: the youngster already has an electric personality in his toolbox, which means he could be a real cover boy come 2015 or so.
