He was against the Cubs firing Ricky & hiring Joe.

That is what they call in the old country Cubs envy.

am i one of the few who realizes that JORR is doing a bit on the board here? by and large it works cuz he's the go-to punchingbag whenever a leadoff HR ensures a world series and all that, but the dude does know his baseball.... he just kind of plays it to an extreme caricature to rustle cub fan jimmies on here.

You're so far wrong. No one is envious of your losing franchise. Get over yourself.

Some of it is trolling but JORR really believes most of this. You're right he does know baseball. He probably knows more about the players and history than anyone else on the board. Problem is the way he applies his knowledge is so 1920's.

Okay, guy. Whatever you say. This is why people root for the Cubs to lose. And the Cubs rarely disappoint.

The game is the same. I don't need Nate Silver to add two numbers together to tell me who the best players are. Did you know that after ten years of insisting "clutch" doesn't exist, there's now a stat that tells us just how "clutch" Anthony Rizzo is?

I'm probably closer to your way of thinking than I am with the new school stuff. You lose me because I think your views are extreme. There is absolutely no flexibility in your thoughts.

I don't really believe that's true, I just find it frustrating when people use numbers to further their argument and then use opposing ones to further a different argument. It's like Vin Scully says, "That's using stats the way a drunk uses a lamp post, for support rather than illumination."

I believe a lot of that stems from guys with public relations degrees suddenly declaring that they are now stat experts.

I'm not jealous, I'm envious of their team and management. Rather cut my nuts off than wear a Cubs hat though.

I'm jealous and envious....I won't be wearing a Cubs hat / jersey, yet I won't be cutting my nuts off, either.

They are a good team. That's just life right now.

I would sooner walk through Buffalo Grove in a full SS uniform than wear a Cubs cap.

"once they put on that cubs hat they look just a little bit dumber" - terry boers, speaking about new cubs managerial hires in the mid-00s.

That's because you chose sides when you didn't have to. I decided to deal with the pain of being a fan of both teams. Having faith that one day I would be rewarded for my loyalty. I was rewarded 10 years ago for my Sox loyalty and one day soon I will be rewarded for the pain of 2003-04.

that reminds me of the one day i was coming home from a sunday brunch and right at the corner of golf and harms (on the NW forest preserve side) there was just a bunch of people in full on nazi uniforms waving flags and shit, prolly a good 20-30 people standing there all nazi'd out like "holy shit, i guess this fills the quota for times in my life where i get to see this"

evidently there's a holocaust museum right there on golf between harms and I-94 so they were standing there being nazis as a form of protest of the holocaust museum. i'm sure their protest was duly noted, altho it's pretty safe to say that this is a 100% bonafide example of being "on the wrong side of history"

Which side did JORR take?

Oh, you were talking about the Cubs/Sox part. Carry on.

I find it very difficult to believe that anybody could be jealous of the Cubs. I wish them well, especially if they play the Mets.

If by "solid" you mean the laziest and worst General Manager in the game. If Brian Cashman tells you that he even knew there was a trade deadline, he is lying through his evil, elfish teeth.
