Certainly didn't give the kind of performance we were hoping for. No, he wasn't awful. But they signed him to be an ace. That was not an ace performance.

Yeah but we didn't give Price 22 million a year . These are the games you're paying this goof to win. Not give up 3 n 6.

I know that. But in that situation you don't let Ross hit. You pinch hit for him and then Lester as well, if the inning continues. They did pinch hit for Ross, but used LaStella, rather than the guy with the best history VS Harvey, which was Montero.

Well now I suppose I have a slight bit of concern.

Hopefully, Lester is the #3 starter next year after Arrieta and whomever they sign this winter. He's no ace of the staff, that's for damn sure. Can't believe they had Harvey bat there. I thought for sure he was through. Good bunt.

Yeah, you might as well be out front and try and make a play especially when there isn't another runner on to worry about.

I'm more curious as to why Lester went back out there?

hey guys remembr when i caught a lot of shit for saying the mets are better than people think? yeah hey now....

and yes dr. ken, i know that arrieta's just gotta arrieta and you head back to chicago tied at 1-1 for 3 games and thats "all you needed to get in NY" --- i'm not saying the series is over or even that the mets will win, i'm just saying that they were better than a lot of ppl assumed when they were wishing for them.

The Mets aren't a good team. Losing this game is unacceptable.

You can if you're fielding the ball. They cleaned up that shit from last season.

btw outside of "i told ya so"s the difference between the mets and the cardinals here is when the cubs go behind they're having a harder time doing their crooked-#-responses in the next inning to quickly take the lead/back. lester did a price impression tonight (most specifically game 1 of the ALDS where he singelhandedly killed every toronto rally to give up runs after toronto clawed back some/most of the way) and still, man, i thought he was gonna give up 3 at most and it's looking like 4 now..... but yeah harvey is better than any pitcher on the cardinals, and IMO it doesnt get much easier with syndergaard and degrom starting you down for the next two days.

that said, i think arrieta can go out there and limit the mets to a run or 2, and while i think syndergaard will end up being the best pitcher on the mets he's not necessarily that guy right now, and i think it's entirely plausible for him to go out and give up 2-4ER and arrieta gives up less than that and the cubs win..... and heading back to chi for 3 games at 1-1 = you're set up for a good long series.

i didnt make any predictions for this series, but i woulda/shoulda told you this wasnt gonna be a 5 game series no matter what. the only way it could go 5 is if the cubs lose tonight and lose the arrieta start tomorrow..... however they're not going to lose the arrita start cuz he's way too good for that. it'd basically be a cubbie occurrence if they did.

Imaginary posting again. No one gave you shit.

The Mets are a good team, everyone knows this. Some wanted the mets. Some wanted the dodgers.

Stop making stuff up

You still have to give the runner the plate, no? I'm not sure the catchers know what they can do.

It's 1 game.

Relax.

Harvey delivered, Lester didn't.

They do need game 2 however.

It is. A 4.50 ERA does not connote quality and that is what 6 innings and 3 runs equates to.

I'd say going down 0-2 would almost be insurmountable. I just don't have faith that both Hendricks and Hammel will come up big in that scenario.
