Im not a huge Maddon guy but there isnt much to criticize. The two pitchers you needed to be great were average and the hitters have been bad.

i certainly think that this talk of Arrietta being fatigued all of the sudden is garbage. Fucking guy was unhittable for 3 months now he's tired in great pitching conditions? I think he did throw too many pitches in some starts down the stretch but now its a matter of him not locating rather than stuff. The big hit last night though was actually a pretty good pitch.

Location has been the issue. Stuff / velocity is fine. Arrieta is the main reason we're even here. It is stupid to feel like be is losing it for the team. The team is losing it for him. I'm okay not winning the series. I'm not okay with how these hitters are only trying to hit home runs in 40° weather.

I wasnt watching the radar gun much but they say he was down a few MPH. Even Jake said that himself.

But that is what they have been almost the entire playoffs, IMU. They hit HRs early and they win. They don't hit HRs and they lose. Even the Cardinals game 2 where they "manufactured" a couple of runs with the squeeze plays, that was after they had hit a 2 run HR.

Arrieta was not FOCUSED early. He has commented about it twice during the playoffs. Talked about his breathing and the effect of the crowd. First pitch of the game, Wild pitch...thats evidence of just not being right to start the game. Probably too pumped up, but still not in normal mindset, after Murphy he settled down.

Not much to come at Maddon about, unless you just want to start a thread to seem like you know what you are talking about.

Mets starting pitching has been better. Cubs have hit some hard balls right at them...Mets finding holes i.e. Granderson single into the shift and Cespedes IF single to deep SS.

Mets have earned the W's...they have produced when necessary, both teams had 5 hits last night. Mets deserve the W....simple as that.

That should be the most troubling possibility out of all of this: Jake finally looked down from the high wire. It's not unprecedented as I saw with guys like Loiza and Contrearas.
