That's what this team does. Hendricks vs Degrom down two games to none? We're fucked. How could any Cubs fan not think so otherwise?.

The Cubs will probably find a way to win that game though. This team seems to do the exact opposite of what we think they should do. This series will probably go back to New York.

No more negative thoughts. Hands in the middle. Let's win this fucking series.

The Mets lineup is good. They scored more than the Cubs in the second half.

Wright, Cespedes, and Darnaud are all huge additions

But its baseball and weird stuff happens. We'll see.

NL East. Mets blow. Cubs are going to take over this series.

Yea, I was never really with you on that.

Hope the Cubs win

 Okay.

Or...maybe...the Cubs are a good team and the Mets are a good team and the Mets are just a little bit hotter right now.

I could be wrong...but weren't the Blue Jays just down 0-2 in a best of 5 like...a few years ago? Maybe more recently?

Yeah I do. Teams being 3-19 after being down 0-2 pretty much confirms that. Unless you think both the Cubs and Blue Jays are going to defy those odds.

He made a terrible prediction that there was no way they could compete for the WC before the season and he's been trying to justify that ever since.

He's a sports hipster.

Yeah, saw that...interesting that the Blue Jays are only +200, being down 0-2 just like the Cubs.

Vegas breathing a sigh of relief (for now).

I'm a hipster doofus.

They were a year away. I've enjoyed the overperformance. I didn't think they could beat the Cards and I was pleasantly surprised. Wasn't sure they'd beat the Pirates either.

That is improper analysis. Proper analysis would be to cite the record of teams down 0-2 and coming home in a 7 game series

Cubs, Blue Jays down 0-2; what does history say about their chances?
By Dayn Perry | Baseball Writer
October 18, 2015 10:43 pm ET

The Cubs are now down 0-2 in their NLCS best-of-seven against the Mets, and that puts them in regrettable company with the Blue Jays, who are down 0-2 to the Royals in the ALCS.

Obviously, the Cubs and Jays are not in good spots as we get set for the respective Game 3s. So what does history say about their current straits? Throughout the sprawl of baseball, teams down 0-2 in a best-of-seven series have gone on to lose said series 82.9 percent of the time. In the LCS/divisional-play era, things are even more grim from the perspective of the team down 0-2 ...

Implied above: Teams down 0-2 in LCS play have gone on to lose 88 percent of the time.

The Cubs and Jays each lost Games 1 and 2 on the road, and in those circumstances the team down 0-2 (and thus going back home for at least Games 3 and 4) have lost the series "just" 80 percent of the time. So that's ... something.

As for specifics, the Cubs appear to be in particularly bad shape. Not only are they, as mentioned, down 0-2 to New York, but they've already burned starts from Jon Lester and Jake Arrieta. As well, they've yet to face Jacob deGrom, who was the Mets' best starting pitcher during the regular season. In light of those circumstances, the Cubs' odds of coming back may be even longer than what you saw above.

In the Jays' instance, they have Marcus Stroman set to start Game 3 in Toronto, so they haven't yet cycled through their top two starters, as the Cubs have.

The good news? Teams down 0-2 have won Game 3 55.3 percent of the time. So that's something. On that front, it's probably best if the Cubs and Blue Jays do nothing but think about winning Game 3. When you're down 0-2, the long view can be too daunting.

Down 0-2, the Cubs and Blue Jays have some things to talk about.

No doubt the Cubs can score runs in bunches, but Stroman > Hendricks

They'll still probably win this series. Think about it. Theo did the same thing in Boston to break the curse. It's part of the storyline.

Who are they jumping over? Will SF not be "on" in their regular "on one year off one year" cycle? Is the Nationals young talent never going to be realized?

I wouldn't write that 2016 playoffs in pen.
